what is the difference b/t exhaust, muffler, and muffler tip?

i know exhaust is the full catback kit...usually comes in two pieces ( a pipe and another pipe with the exhaust end on it.

what is the difference b/t muffler and tip....?..is muffler the second part of the exhaust ( the pipe with the tip or just the tip and you have to weld it)?

If anything, I'd say that would definatly help during sex ed. Just depends on who is teaching the class I guess.

then ones you find at the store usually have a screw to tighten down onto the end of your muffler. I guess a shop could weld it on the end for you though.
