MOTEC for K20Z3
I ran across this web site where a guy swapped a K20Z3 into a 1995 Hatchback and maintained the OEM DBW. What also caught my eye was he installed and tuned the engine with MOTEC. I emailed him about gauges and if he is running the MAF too (though I don't see it in pics). I realize MOTEC is really expensive, but nonetheless an avenue for tuning.

I don't know about many tuning options for the car, I just see people posting "why bother there is no tuning" "....and without KPRO there is no point."
I have even stated you can always do piggyback (emanage ultimate) to tune AFR and VTEC engagement point, although it would be nice to do cam angles as well. |

I would be willing to be that he dumped the MAF and is utalizing the MAP as the primary fueling source...And also using the motec to run the DBW...BY dumping MAF he basically turns the car into any other K almost and all he would need is a RSX wiring harness and he can run that engine with the Motec...

I think what the KPro soloution is going to be is what HASport and Hondata did with the K20 Fit, 2 ECU's

Could this be done to the Si and maintain guage/dash function? |

No..Due to the unique can-bus system that we run, most of the standalone ECU's do run a can bus line to the gauges but then usually use a digital gauge that accepts that input.
Hasport did use K-pro on their SI, but they change the wholde wiring harness, dash harness, and changed out to a custom gauge cluster.

"Due to the sophisticated electronics of the Fit, use of a K-series ECU results in the throttle by wire, HVAC and dash instruments ceasing to work. Hondata hopes to release a Fit/K-Pro adapter harness to help with this problem in the near future. At the time of the Kits release the best bet is to run a stand alone K-series ECU and gauges to give you the necessary information for vehicle operation."
Right that is different than what we will be getting I think

Why wouldn't it work with our gauges? So long as you transferred all of the Z3's sensors to the Z1 and retain the Z3's ECU there shouldn't be any issues.

^I may be wrong but I believe the z1 uses a MAP sensor. In which case the z3 ECM would have a hard time running without a MAF. |

The Z3 will run without a MAF but then needs to be converted to cable TB and the dash can not be maintained. As I said the harnessses will need to be changed out though.
You could swap a Z1 in but then not be able to tune it would probably run just fine on our ECU. But then you would have to add the MAF sensor....Its kinda a catch 22..
