Me personally I think the Comptech catback is the best of both worlds. A little more than half the price, a 2.5" catback with a nice sound.
i mostly agree with that.
except for a 1k+ exhaust system i would no doubt be buying the j's racing titanum exhaust. for whatever it doesnt make in HP it by far amkes up for its light weight.

the midpipe. the axel backs of teh 2dr and 4dr are interchangable.

I just got back from an oil change and Babylon Honda has a Mugen Si in the showroom. #52 of 1000 btw. Anyway, I asked the guy if parts are available for it, he said soon they will be. If you order now, it'll just take longer to get. I then asked him if you can order Mugen-Si parts but not have the Mugen-Si and he said yea, I don't see why not. Parts are parts, but there's only 1k of the car.

That might be a good answer.

They aren't some company that just makes intakes, or exhaust. Their racing history goes back pretty far...

1988, Mugen powered car won 4 of the top 5 places in Japan F3000 championship.
1989, Mugen powered car won the European F3000 series
They were the exclusive engine supplier for Formula Nippon up till something 2005.
Mugen powered Jordan F1 won in 1998, 1-2 finish actually.
In SuperGT, they also have had various levels of success in the series.

So... I donno about you, but it's clear to me that Mugen has participated in the top levels of open wheel and sports car racing around the world... not exactly "garbage" in my books.
Wow, Mugen is really great company! If they're so focused on performance, how come the Mugen Si has the same performance as the base Si?

^because the mugen Si was not actually changed by mugen.
the only mugen "perfomance" part was the exhaust. and im sure it does get a gain, its probably ony 5 whp. the biggest changes to the car were only to the appearance.

Psh! if that's true, I no longer consider it the, "Mugen Si." Rather the HFP-R Civic Si.

There's the Sport Tuned suspension, Mugen Catback exhaust, and Mugen Short Shifter. So I'll be looking to see what's what. Probably figure out getting my own catback from a company, not Mugen.

as si speed also mentioned, there is a track tuned suspension, but so far its nothing to brag about over the competitors....but i would hardly call this a performance mod.

It's nothing really different than aftermarket. I'd go Eibach/Tien before the 'Mugen' Sport Tuned suspension.

^i dont know about eibach or tein...eibach may make good springs, but they are 80% for looks since there is no dampers currently out that complement them well.
i was more refering to just about any "good" pre-built coilover such as buddy club and up. actually, the best performaing suspension for the civic, besides the mugen SI setup, is the HFP. it may not be very aggresive, but it is designed fo rthe car which allows it to perform much better than any aftermarket tein coilover.

If I did end up getting suspension, HFP is the way to go then? I was thinking of getting the Mugen Si springs from Babylon Honda

the performance of the mugen si is the same because of honda/us regulations etc...dont blame mugen...remember the mugen si is a collectors item 1 out of 1000...if you are buying it to be a track car...imo your crazy...the extra $10,000 would be better spent on real racing parts...not a limited edition package...
