Question b18c aftermarket pistons for R18a?

there's a project car in progress.an R18a engine will be using an aftermarket piston intended for B18c. Both the R18 and B18 engines have the same bore of 81mm.the R18 has slightly longer stroke of 87.3mm than that of B18C which is 87.2mm they modified the r18 head, made the chamber fit for the B18c pistons.

i'm curious if it will have a satisfying run.what do you think guys?

pistons dont add hp or tq gains really. you need other mods in order to make aftermarket pistons/rods worth even taking your motor apart... I mean if it were me... why fix what isn't broken. Blow your shit up first... then replace it :) ...

precisely :) I dunno if the original poster blew his shit up or not but... personally I'd like to see someone push this motor to the breaking point over a period of time and not just upgrade right away...

You will need to do more than a piston swap to get VTEC, you will need cams, head, all kinds of stuff, they are probably just increasing the CR with the pistons, which in turn will add some power, or maybe they are trying to build an engine with stronger internals to run boost? Link to an article?

maybe those guys on the project dont wanna spend time blowing the whole thing before before getting their chance to upgrade it.if they blew their pockets isnt my problem anyway.

they wanna push the motor to its potential, why stop them?let them and we learn from their mistakes if they fail the whole thing.i said, "why not remove the whole engine and make way for a bigger engine?"besides, the R18 claims to be "anemic" for some coz they believe its intended for economy. And they showed me their very own FD2 Type-R with fully built K20 powered by spoon from japan.
they said "the R18 is a different thing. let's see what it can do with these upgrades".
