okay i did this mod, the stock maf housing worked really well to my suprise. as far as the cone filter goes, go to autozone and check out there selection haha. for $21 I bought a cone filter, red with a flat top and 3" opening. I'd recommend the flat top over the open ended cone, if you read through x's thread he says the open ended creates too much air turbulance. I dont know if its true or not but I didn't experiment with it. I guess if you wanna go with a k&n or something else you can but it was just quick and easy to grab one from autozone to atleast test out the finished project.

Don't forget that the no name brand filters are that way for a reason. The A'pexi and Fujita are very similar, as are the K&N's too. All 3 companys have great filters, what you get depends on what you're using it for. Any of these 3 would work great.

Reason being because they are all high flow filters. The other ones aren't as free flowing.

As long as it fits, it should be fine. X uses an A'PEXi filter and it works great for him. I use Fujita though. Both are great though.

the apex i requires a 3.125 coupler and 2 extra clamps, but through testing numerous filters on and off the dyno, my intake tube was always overly dirty with the fujita and its quality is POOR... check out what happened to one of my fujita"s

What happened to your Fujita is weird, I've had mine for a little while now and it's perfectly fine.
