X's SRI...and RAM air to boot!

Ok...so while waiting for the MAF DIY, I started some work of my own on cool air into the car. I didn't want to cut the cowl so found some spare parts laying around and thought i'd mess with a RAM air type setup.

I found a intake 'snorkel' and started messing with it. Here are some pics: RAM AIR SETUP

Click the "RAM Air setup" at the top of the main page. I have some pics of the initial work. I just need to get a few things to connect the snorkel to the factory flex hose. Then, I leave the lower filter box in place to catch the air for the SRI APEXi filter. So no bracket will be needed, maybe, the SRI will sit in the bottom half of the air box that stays in place.

The air SHOULD come in between the hood and the grill, no gasket there, and into the snorkel. I won't have dyno numbers, there isn't a dyno near me that I know of. But colder air is good! So we'll see how it works. And I'll keep you posted.

based on personal experience, i do realize that air does work its way up over that radiator shroud, in between it and the hood.
with that said, have you considered removing the rad. shroud to open up just that little bit more space for induction abilities for the snorkel?

That's lame. You don't have to be a vendor if your making your own stuff. If your selling it, thats different.
I think its probably because alot of people might start making their own intakes and sponsors would lose money.
Talk about being greedy.

All that good info and gone. I thought about a ram air set up from the cowl also but didn't want it sticking out too much. I was thinking of just a cut out piece from the cowl and a tube that goes to the air filter.

Not to mention it had a ton of good info. in there. Could have just locked it instead of deleting the entire thread!

FYI, X should just start his own site, it's cheap enough! and put up his own small forum, it's free, and we'll visit, trust me! Heck, I'll even help set it up :)

Then call the intake the "X-factor", and sell tons of them!

i like this idea.

i feel like X's MAF mod is going to be popular, and there's no reason for it not to be able to flourish.

Oh, ok, that's all the gain is? I'm slightly interested just b/c i could keep the stock airbox and have that modded and nobody know and run a spacer and try to make it blend in with the rest of the throttle body and i/m and also the k&n dropin airbox. I wonder what the gain of those three would be.
