Reporting a DCRH install, review, and a knock

Okay first I have to thank the guys at corsport for the header and the time they spent emailing me for the updates on my shipment status. Thanks guys!
And the guys over at strut king for delivering the o2 simulator in a very speedy manner. Thanks guys!

Now to the install everything in Caveman's DIY was completely useful thanks for the nice and easy right up. I would tell others to get some extensions ready for the install and you will be set. Smooth sailing. The only real hold up okay the BIGGEST hold up for me was the bracket under the stock header was a bitch to get off. I was only using simple tools: Ramps, jacks, and basic hand tools. If you are using air tools you would have the least problem with this stubborn bolt. I had to use all my resources and take a walk to my neighbors house and use some mapp. Not real sure of its full name but it is a torch in a bottle. I tried to heat up the bolt and it still didn't move. Thirty minutes later and alot more heat the bolt finally came off the bracket allowing me to pull the stock header out. Smooth sailing after that the only thing left was to heat wrap and tighten everything up.

My mods before the header was a fujita sri and the hondata reflash I was very impressed with the results for some time but my body got use to the feeling so I added the DCRH and strut king o2 simulator.

All I can say after getting on the throttle is shiittt. I have to comment because I read alot on the boards but post very rarely but I noticed someone mentioned their fujita making their idle go up and down. I have to say that I did experience that to but with the addition of the header It is completely gone. Take my word! If anyone can remeber before they modded there car the walls it felt like you would hit going through vtec? then you added the hondata reflash and it decreased the wall dramatically? but the wall was still some what noticable in the higher gears like forth and the pull of vtec through fifth gear was kind of weak? With the header the pull through all gears including fourth is seamless soooooooo smooth the power band has complete opened up. ( I havent went hard through fifth or sixth yet)
The header has really added to the mid and upper power range and I don't need a dyno to tell me that.

The sound to me is perfect the only thing that I'am thinking of adding to the exhaust would br the HFP muffler and call it a day. The sound is not in the slight bit raspy, ricey, or fartty. In my opinion it is the most suttle sounding If you are looking for a change in sound for an exhaust. This is only my opinion in exhaust choiuce but I think the tanabe madalion touring is the best sounding and most suitable exhaust so base it on that. The header and stock exhaust I would have to say can be compared to a Nissan 350z or an infinite g35 exhaust when you are driving sensable.

The only problem area I ran into was after the install on start up it sounded like something was tring to come through the armrest so I asked caveman If he had the same problem and he said no but he did tell me to make sure everything was tight so I did (Thanks Caveman). But after tightning everything up I still had this problem, It was the rest of the exhaust the part after the three bolts where the header connects to the rest of the exhaust was knocking aginst the underbody of the car. This is the only problem that I'am having but since I know what the problem is I can say that it isn't that bad. But go get a header exscecially if you have Hondata!~!

Yeah, I just got my DCRH installed today as well (had a shop do it though). It sounds great paired with the LSD Exhaust

I noticed your comment about the fact that it feels like something is trying to come through the armrest... After the install I noticed that when I am in reverse, I get the same feeling.. Kind of a shuddering feeling like something is pulsing under the armrest... its quite odd :\ Does this happen for you in reverse as well? The rest of my gears work flawlessly though, so I dunno...

Wow..everyone seems to be installing DCRH's around here. I just got finsihed installing mine yesterday, and the gain from 4000 rpm and up is simply beautiful. To the OP, sorry about the problem you are having. I did not experience that with mine, and I followed the exact same DIY you followed. Anyway, congrats on the install, and enjoy your new found power.

wow, i've been hearing a lot of bad things about the DCRH, I had a K20A2 in a '02 civic ex before with that header. It helped me a lot, but with the new SI...everyone says get the BCRH. I really want the BCRH, but it's costs way too much for just a header. $767 shipped is a lot for just a header, So I was thinking about the DC since it's like $400 cheaper. Anyways, keep us updated on cracks. I hear the DC cracks, or at least the first batch did. I don't know about now, but yea...that's what scared me the most about the DCRH.

BTW, does anyone know the difference in power when just adding the DCRH with Injen CAI...NO REFLASH, I wanna know what it's like going from just CAI to CAI + DCRH. I don't have the money for DCRH AND reflash. Let me know...thanks

Yeah mine does it mainly in reverse and real quick when I start the car. It is the rear half of the exhaust knocking up against the car. It looks like the dcrh made the rear of the exhaust point up a tad bit.

Yeah, I agree about the exhaust thing, when the header was installed I was informed that it had to be shifted to the right a bit... this is probably the result... Think it will be an issue? I'd hate to have my transmission wear out prematurely due to this :\

Which Strut King O2 Sensor "Extender" did you buy, the straight one or the angled one? I'm not having any luck with the spark plug defouler type O2 simulator, I was thinking of making an angled one (like the ones built into Injen Downpipes). Seems like Strut King did it for me. I'll have to try it out.

I bought the straight no problems with it at all I saw someone say the angled fit easier. Doubt it there was plenty of space.

Phobo I don't think it will have any effect on the transmission its just the exhaust thats the tyrant

Thing of the past..? You fail, sir :\ The real benefit of buying a new header like the DCRH is the cat-delete... I'm willing to bet the difference between the BCRH and the stock header (minus the cat) is not enough to warrant the cost :) Besides, when was the last time you told your friend "Hey I got that new BCRH, it looks HAWT" and he jumps under your car to get a look? Even if he does... will he ever do it again? lol

who gives a crap what the header looks like?! It's not like you can see it. I take back my question in the previous page, i should know the difference. I had a K20A2 in my '02 EX before and i definitely felt the difference with the DC. DC or BC?! yea BC might give a little more power, but that's only when tuned. Speaking of tuning? they don't even have K-Pro for our cars (yet), all they have is reflash. So, until they come out with the k-pro, DC would work just at good as the BC.

One more thing, yea if they come out with K-Pro you can tune it and make more power with the BC. But...that's only if you're looking to go all out with your car. Otherwise, i wouldn't recommend spending all that money if you're just looking for a good kick from the car. If you're expecting to beat a damn 350Z or something of the competition, you might as well s/c or cam it, the header is not the biggest most important mod to get if you wanna be THAT fast. Sorry for the long message, but i had to just let it out, i'm sick of reading about this subject over and over in an endless conversation on these forums.

BTW, pervertedmunk...I'm not trying to pick on you, I admit it does look good. But, like i mentioned in the above statement, you can't really see it anyways. To me, it's like I would be paying for something i cant even see.
