my custom cowl scoop for you fujita SRI users

alot of people have asked me to post up pics of my scoop.... its made out of sheet metal and it is far from finished.. work in progress i guess you can call it but so far so good... after driving the car with the stock cowl (noscoop) the SRI after a short drive would be hot and i have done the coolant bypass the spacers and IMG. point is that EVERY SRI will suffer from heatsoak and will make the ECU adjust timing in a negitive way. on top of the scoop im also making a shield/box to keep the filter away from the hot engine bay which should look pretty nice when im done right now its using the bottom half of the stock airbox from my parts bin in my garage(i have alot of left over SI parts) i want to utilize the stock CAI pipe system that the car came with too. ive done many sheetmetal box and i will post some pics of them soon... im just very limited on time these days... my business drains me so to speak. so here they are ENJOY!

here are some of my previous projects...
MY STi with K&N SRI back in the day

my cousins 06 SER spec V with custom G35 airbox

did you take off the black sheet metal that goes over the intake box? In other words does the air actually make it to the engine bay?

yes that fake metal strut bar was removed... i will be using the corsport strut bar now... the pipe is always cold now. and the car feels very strong up top. ive taken my Si up to 130 end of my 5th on a empty freeway in the wee hrs of the morning and it sure does help.

There is no "fake metal strut bar" in the Si. Its a windshield support bracket that attaches to the a pillars. It doesn't even touch the strut towers.

A real strut tower bar doesn't improve performance anyway. Read this thread to find out why. It starts to get good aroun pg 4 with proof on pg 10.

any one put a strut towerbar on an si?

First man this is a great idea, i'll give you that. But i dont know about removing things when its rains and stuff. Maybe later when everything is completed, meaning sealed or it wont have any water intrusion. Other than that man i will give you props!!

I'm guessing your not going to see much of a difference, and you definetly won't on a dyno. Stock intake is good enough.

I found this in a mag. I cant remember which one.

It would require a new radiator... or atlease lowering the stock one some how.

hey OP, i'm guessing you dont have one since u havent said anything about temps, but do u happen to have a Scangauge II or the new i think its dash hawk that actually measures intake air temp? this would be awsome for us sri users if it would lower intake air temps by like 20 degrees or so. the reason i say 20 degrees is because i have an Injen sri and the intake air is always about 20 degrees warmer than ambient air. but anyways, excellent idea and +rep for u! good job
