R18 mods

Ok im getting confused with all these parts that are being dyno'd, some are making power while others are, in some cases losing power. Obviously my r18 sedan isnt gonna win any races without forced induction, but i have an 8month old son and a wife who can barely drive an automatic.

Anyway, im looking to add some power to this car, so does anyone know an i/h/e setup that would actually make power and sound decent?

There's not much you can do right now... you can go with a cat-back exhaust, that will give you decent gains, other than that, I wouldn't really touch it. You can make it handle better :)

If you believe the guys who swear by intake, go grab yourself a CAI or SRI, personally I don't think either will give you noticable gains. What ppl claim are gains, are really just their imagination givin them more HP cause their engine sounds meaner.

well i do have a front upper strut bar, and wider wheels/tires with the si rear sway on order, so im happy with the handling. so freeing up HP is my next if not last goal. nst pullies i did read about and i will def get those. sounds like the greddy ti-c is the best exhuast too, but have seen no clear choice as to a good intake or header(not sure if anyone even makes an r18 header) any names guys?

Theres actually a thread saying that the stock header is pretty good, so it's prolly not worth it to drop 200 bucks on a header. Also, that thread states that intake does not show gains. I think your best bet would be to do the poor mans mugen icebox, that has proven gains on the dyno

Well, since their isn't any header for the car the stock is going to have to do. No way in changing out the exhaust manifold from the engine.

But buying the Weapon R "header" is basically eliminating the restrictive cat, and that will improve on gains also.

buying the weapon r header isnt going to free anything up unless you use the same diameter catback or bigger.

well when i do exhuasts on my cars, i dont just do a catback, header(s) and a free flow cat are also always ordered, i never half ass it, cuz there is no point in getting a free flow header only to crash into a highly restrictive cat

Actually, does anyone know just how "highly restrictive" the R18's cat is? I understand the stock cat (at least, this one) is pretty free-flowing as it is.

Yeah I also want to know if is worth to improve the whole exahust system.

But I want an almost stock sound, can improving the exaust and having and quiet stock sound be possible?
I yes what are the parts that I would need
