Exclamation 02 simulator.

has anyone with the DCRH drilled out the hole for the defouler? i read that is was a 1/2 inch drill bit, but i would imagine that you still have to thread the hole so the 02 simulator will screw in. someone with experience on this topic would help me greatly. i have the grip to order my dcrh, tic exhaust and the simulator but i want to make sure that i can still pass emissions. that is a must. thanks

Or you could just buy the one from Strutking. I have a BCRH on order so I will be ordering the angled de-fouler from them.

you don't drill a hole in the header, you drill a hole in the defouler. look here for instructions

Wait a minute, you would not pass emissions tests with a Race Header unless that you add a CAT after the header. The defouler trick is only to cheat the ECU making it believe that everything is fine and emissions are in an acceptable level. But it will not cheat the emissions test machine.

are you positive, not to down you but i want a race header and i need to pass emissions. does anyone else know if this is a true fact?
and is there a hole already drilled into the header so the defouler just screws into place??

Yes, there is a "hole" for the defouler to plug into. There are usally two bungs welded onto a RH. The one nearest the engine if for the primary and the one farther to the back is for the secondary which is the o2 sensor for the catalytic.

The drilling has to do with the defouler itself as where the O2 sensor screws into is not quite big enoug. Yes, you will fail inspection if they "sniff" test your car.

damn the "sniff" test! any logical solution to passing emissions. can i cheat? i would have an exhaust shop weld in a cat with custom 70mm piping to the muffler, but a apexi muffler or greddy tip would be almost as much as the whole cat back exhaust. it is 2 years untill i need to get the emissions test... but i dont want to swap back the stock header and exhaust. what options do i have?
BTW- thanks for the feedback, it is much appreciated.

Computers don't lie when it comes to the "sniff" test. As far as I know there is no way to cheat it. As long as you're running a cat of some type you shoud pass the "sniff" test. The only option I see for you is to have a HF cat be a bolt on instead of the weld in so you can swap that out for the test pipe when you have to go to the emissions test.

Payoff the guy that does the test maybe? If you had a friend that worked there. Hang onto your stock header and when you go to get the test done, put the stock one back on. I hate that people have to take the sniffer test.

If you add a Cat after the RH, is obvious that you must mod the "cat back pipe" in a muffler shop to make all fit perfectly.

He's also gonna have to figure out a way to get the cat to fit w/o rubbing the heatshield. He won't have a big gap for the cat if it's further back. I would just go with the ssr and add a cat where the testpipe is personally, but I'm not sure if you'd pass the sniffer still.
