TB spacer/tornado

im still learning about motors and i just found out what a throttle body spacer actualy does/is supposed to do and it sounds like what the tornado does/supposed to do. I was wondering if either actualy works. I have heard from many people that the tornado doesnt, but a few others said it does.

The main reason for this thread is I want a TB spacer, but i dont know if its actualy worth it.

there is a dyno here to prove it works.

Dyno by one person. There are also people that are having idle issues with it but that has been traced back to a bolt issue.
I can't use the TB Spacer since it interferes with my Injen Cai.

Oh and the Tornado most definitely does NOT work. It's a bunch of Bird Do do

I guess it depends on what type of mods you have and want to do in the future. If you ask me there a other mods
you can invest in prior to the TB Spacer or the Tornado

If the Tornado does work, it doesn't do what a tb spacer does. The Tornado is supposed to make the incoming air swirl around so it mixes with the fuel better. The TB spacer adds more volume to the IM. Not sure about all the physics behind it, but I think the greater volume of air is what makes more power.

As I said there are other parts you can invest in that would be more worthwhile than the Throttlebody Spacer. Why are you so hung up on getting one of those? They may or may not even work that well and some people are having idle issues with them installed. I would go with the Injen Cai that will wake your car up and give you a decent sound and growl out of your engine since it is getting rid of 3 boxes full of stock airboxes, tubing, resonator and more tubing. It will also add a few ponies to your ride Then I would invest in a HFP suspension and a Progress Rear Sway bar. That will improve the handeling of your car 100 times and make it a lot more fun to drive especially in the twisties.
After that I would get either a Raceheader or if you are worried about emission testing in your area maybe a Random Technology High flow Cat coupled with a decent cat back system like the Greddy Evo 2, SP2, Apexi WS2, Vibrant. etc etc...
Also getting the TWM short shifter and cable bushings are a very worthwhile mod and if you have shifting issues I would swap your Transmission fluid to Amsoil MTF for smoother shifts.
After all that get a Hondadata reflash to make it all come together.

In the meantime drive your car and have fun. Personally I wouldn't worry about a damn Tornado or the TB Spacer. Those are unimportant mods in my honest opinon!

my tanabe medallion touring is quieter than stock until WOT and nets at least 2-3 whp. Check them out. No coffee can. No fart sound. Just goodness and a deeper note.

There are a lot of cat backs that don't look like Coffee cans. The Vibrant has a nice muffler and a very deep rumble but it is a bit on the loud side.
If you want quiet I would recommend the Apexi WS2 or the Greddy SP2,
both are barely louder than stock and have a nice deep tone. And no Coffee Can tip ala Evo 2

Didnt the guy who dyno'd the spacer pick up like 4.5whp? 80 bucks for 4whp, wont get that with a intake, not for 80 dollars. Its been proven on a dyno and thats good enough for me.

As for the tornado, read this:

As a former driver for my parents shop for 7 years, I had always wanted to find out new ways to save fuel. Our delivery van wasn't very fuel effecient (2002 Dodge Grand Caravan). I kept very strict records of fuel economy and the poor van averaged only 15.5 mpg. This is a LOT of stop and go traffic and in-city driving keep in mind.

One option I also tried was the Tornado. What a piece of crap. I didn't do anything but hurt the fuel mileage. It may have worked for other vehicles with different air intake setups, but it sure didn't with the van. It may also work better with vehicles with better airflow driving on the highway all the time, but not in the city.

I believe that anything obstructing airflow, including the Tornado is harmful to the performance of any car.

Any fitment issues with an aftermarket intake? That is the only question holding me back from buying one. I havnt begun to mod the engine yet but the spacer ive had my eyes on. I guess I like to research everything possible first and see if im going to have problems with an intake fitting.

i have a stock intake ... so i can't be too sure ...
but it appears that there may be some conflict with an aftermarket intake, but i'm sure it's something that can easily be fixed.

I would almost bet the spacer would give even better gains when some kind of engine managment comes out to take advantage of the extra air capacity.

anavrin351, Ive asked some people at work and school before if they or anyone they know has any experience with a tornado. I know everyone calls BS on a product like that but 90%+ is herssay. I want to see a dyno or hear from someone who has used the tornado and its effect on power/fuel atomization. It probably is BS, but I wont call it without proof.

Everyone who put the tornado on a car said it's useless. The people whom mentioned they have it on their truck got 2-3mpg.

I think it really depends on application. Personally, I've only seen it advertised for trucks.
