How much performance will I lose w/ silencer and skunk2?

After having the skunk2 70mm installed on my sedan and driving around, I have decided to leave the silencer in because I drive so much on the highway. I really do like the sound of the silenced skunk 2 exhaust. My question is how much am I losing in power with the silencer in vs. out? I drive 40 min. evrey morning on the highway and the drone was a little much. Thanks guys.

not really sure but i have the same exhaust with the SSR header and occasionally I have the silencer in. I have noticed a slight decrease in power but a slight increase in throttle response...strange i know, also better gass milage. but how much power??? would have to dyno.

I had the skunk2 and either way I doubt it will make any difference other than the butt dyno. Some people dynoed higher with the silencer in.

I just personally like the silencer in and was hoping to keep it that way unless someone had reported considerable power loss....thanks

i have mine in right now. it feels like it slows the car down alot, or it could just be me and that the car is quieter so it doesnt seem like your going as fast.

I think you hit the nail on the head.....I can't imagine your car lossing that much power from having the silencer in. You may "feel" like your not as fast, but much of that is from the car not being as loud.

I don't know if it is just the interior dynamics of the sedan, but at highway cruising speed and rpm...the skunk is overpowering to anyone inside the car...jmho

I was wondering the same thing, but I have the 60mm. The hole in the silencer for the 60 is small like 1 1/4". Drops down the volume a good bit but I'm guessing the flow is way down as well.

actually u do lose a lot of power with the silencer on , most of it at the top like 4th gear , i dynoed my car with silencer 2 pulls it's the same 169 whp
without it 183whp ,it's worse than a stock exhaust cause the aftermarket pipe got bigger then small opening at the end , almost having a clog cat ,
and yes it feels more throttle response, i personally use a silencer cause i can't take the noise when cruising
i think 13whp is alot too lose

From this thread

Skunk2 Mega Power Exhausts

they stated that they're exhaust w/ silencer is free flowing. So I'm guessing that they're silencers should lose only a little to non hp.

wow! if slow4drsi's, dyno sheet is correct, that's a lot man.
a silencer shouldn't effect the car's performance that much..
Anything else you took off and put on??

Maybe he has the hondata reflash. If you went back to a restricted exhaust that could maybe cause the big loss in power since they claim you will actually loose power with the reflash if you don't have a free flowing exhaust.

no i don't have reflash, i was surprise too , went to dyno with the silencer , went 169whp 2 times , third time i took the silencer off went 182 4th time 183whp , if i ran it base line only i might say it's wrong , but i ran it 2 times ....

Damn, I purchased my exhaust specifically so I could get a reflash. Now I can't do it. With that kind of a hp loss, I got to think it's not flowing any better than stock. It's just too loud with out the silencer for me. I went to the muffler shop and a second resonator will not fit with out removing the heat sheild and there would be clearance issues with the break lines. I also read about others who did add one and didn't make much difference. Seems now my only option is to weld on a larger canister muffler to provide flow and sound deadening, or trade the system for another.

it will run allright ,it actually runs better with silencer in everyday driving 1st 2nd and 3rd gear i only feel the lost of power at 4th gear with the silencer on, i dunno bout other people's experience ,but m exhaust has no resonator so it runs better with silencer 1st to 3rd ...

I got the 60mm version and a resonator. The hole in the silencer for the 60 is small like 1 1/4". I can feel the difference in mine above about 5k in all gears. Also the vtech hit is much more noticable with out it.
