Anybody sporting the ScanGuage II?

http://www.scangauge.com/

Quote:
The integrated Trip Computer provides realtime feedback while simultaneously tracking three sets of trip data. The Digital Gauges give you realtime data for your vehicle and the built-in Scan Tool allows you to read trouble codes and diagnose potentially expensive problems before they get out of hand.
Basically you plug ScanGuage into your ODB port in your cabin (not sure where in si). Then you get all kinds of great specs:

* Maximum Speed
* Average Speed
* Maximum Coolant Temperature
* Maximum RPM
* Driving Time
* Driving Distance
* Fuel Used
* Trip Fuel Economy
* Distance to Empty
* Time to Empty
* Fuel to Empty

* Fuel Economy
* Fuel Rate
* Battery Voltage
* Coolant Temperature
* Intake Air Temperature
* Engine Speed (RPM)
* Vehicle speed (MPH)
* Manifold Pressure (not available on some vehicles)
* Engine Load
* Throttle Position
* Ignition Timing
* Open/Closed Loop

Not all specs are supported on all cars, but since the Si is so modern it will likely support a bunch of them. In addition to these specs it will show you ECU codes AND let you reset them! For $169 that is a pretty bad ass piece of equipment for learning about your car and tuning.

With all that said, I don't own one yet. I wanted to find out if anyone else has used the ScanGuage to investigate their mods. I see some hits on search from users who are using it to tweak their gas mileage, but I'm more interested in stuff like:

How much difference does a CAI make to INTAKE TEMPERATURE readings on the scanguage? What about the intake coolant bypass mod?

How much difference does a SRI make to MANIFOLD PRESSURE (lol danger to manifold).

ScanGuage seems like such an awesome tool, but I never see anyone talking about specs other than dyno. Not saying that a good dyno isn't the obvious answer, just that there is more to learn with more information available. Also, for anyone that owns a ScanGuage for the Si - where is the port and where did you mount your scanguage?

Oh you know it

Port is by your right knee under the dash. Took me a minute to find it. I wonder how many people on here have one? It doesnt do fuel pressure on our cars tho but it does do MAP. It also has 4 trip computers, tank, yesterday, today, and current (current resets if the car is off for 4 mins or something) It does each of the first set of data for each trip form the above post. The second set of data from the above can display 4 diff gauges at once. But you cant view the trip data along side the gauges. (Average MPG is trip data, instant MPG is gauge data ) I wanted to have average MPG in the same display with instant MPG so bad.

Still have the stock intake, but i can tell you intake temps are about +10-15 w/ normal driving and +20-30 if in traffic, degrees above outside temps.

I'm waitin on the ice box. Hopefully we'll see the same if not colder temps. I remember one guy said he was gettin hotter temps w/ a CAI. Probably cause its metal tho.

They were supposed to release a cable FYI so you could hook it up to your laptop to log but its taking longer than expected....

As for mounting it, heres my old spot, then my new one.

Sweet! I liked your old spot better :P. I'm not surprised about the CAI seeing as how the Si... already HAS a CAI.

Are there any other specs that aren't supported on the Si?

I have had one for about a year now. Love it. I am in the process of remounting it now into the coin tray in between the shifter and the cupholders. I have custom made two brackets that it will mount onto and it will be angled for better viewing angle. Oh and no show wires FTW. I will post pics when I get my car back. Its in the shop getting some top secret work done thats going to upset ILLFG2. Sorry bud.

I didn't even know this thing existed! Checked out the site and now I want one for my LX coupe. Is this like the best one or are there even better ones...I'm going to look into this type of stuff now

There's always going to be something better. For our cars, and depending on what you want from it, it's the best! I've had one moved over from my other car, and the savings it has enabled in fuel efficiency has paid for itself in a few months. There is another benefit that came in handy the other day: The car threw a CEL (from the WR header) after about 1400 miles. I pulled over and cleared it with the SG2 in a few seconds. It didn't come back. However, mileage went to $hit for a few hundred miles, but now it has returned to its previous levels (40+ avg). Can you tell I'm pleased with it?

There is a small, but faithful following of SG (I & II) users on the site. Do a search and you'll probably find several thread with comments and users.

Mine is mounted is a similar position to 'CrazyJ' (picture below for crazyJ's setup), but mine is seated back in futher so it does not 'tilt' out. I ran the cable through a small hole in the removable panel in the cubby. No cable mess that way.

I typically have the following up:

MPG
Gallons/Hour
Water Temp
Voltage

You can read about some of the crazy MPG figures dedicated Si (and other) drivers have gotten by being mind controlled by their SGII

Yea i cant wait til the data cable for the laptop finally comes out and we can log stuff.

Why does everyone mount it so low? I love havin it up high so i can constantly glance at it :)

I didn't know there was anything else out there besides the scangague. I remember seeing the dash hawk or something but that didn't actually measure MPG.

Edit: It sucks tho this kinda stuff doens't come stock. I mean, the SG2 cost $170 for us, so in parts it probably really cost a quarter that and for honda to add this wold cost almost nothing. Sh!t, a $100 option would be nice at least.

Hell yeah, imagine a whole slew of digital readouts in your dash all constanly updating. Cockpit ftw . Unfortunately most consumers can barely handle a CEL without their brain melting and all they have to do is take it to the dealer. Simplicity of user interface always leads to cheaper support and savings in warranty claims. The prius has a better trip computer and mpg stats but then again most prius owners are obsessed with mpg.

I think I'll be putting mine up on my dash so I can see it - although I was considering the right side instead of the left.

Yea mine took 12 days i think. But i bought it right when the SG2 first came out (the SG1 looked like something out of a 80s movie )

Yea true, most people cant handle that much info, hell they barley pay attention to the road lol. A little digital readout right next to the spedo would be so pimp.

Does anyone know if our cars don't support any of the possible features of the SG2? like, does the manifold pressure work? does the intake air temp work? What about engine load? It will probably be a shorter list to list the items that don't work, rather then list the ones that do.
So, from the people that currently own this, lets have it. What doesn't work??

I'm fairly certain that everything is supported except for fuel pressure. Haven't heard anyone mention manifold pressure though. Intake temp works - see first page.

If you wait a couple more days I should have mine and I'll post back with an update.

Yea everything works besides fuel pressure.

Some of the not so obvious gauges

MAP = manifold air pressure.
GPH = fuel rate = gallons/hour

Its weird they dont list fuel pressure as a gauge on the website and mine has all 12 + fuel pressure so 13 gauges. Maybe they took it off in later models or dont list it or something i dunno.

Digging up a semi-old thread, but you guys just sold me, I jbought one online. Looks like I might have to get a little creative with hiding the cable, but there are several folks that seem to have figured it out.

Does the plug interfere with your knees under the dash at all?
