no.

it will cause more drag which may decrease fuel economy *slightly* if any. its more for the JDM thing than anything else but regardless the engine works at best when at operating temp, which a hood spacer will not change.

and no.. no one blocks openings to the front of the car.. not even those who lives in canada. i wonder how your radiator would work without an opening in the front..

If i were to order this from amazon, would it have xgauge? it doesn't mention it in the product description, and scangauge's website sells it for an extra $10 when compared to amazon. i'd rather pay that extra ten if amazon doesn't come with Xgauge and then send it to linear-logic to get it upgraded. If some knows, please send me a PM or respond, i was thinking of ordering one tonight.

i thought someone had said that it would release heat from the engine compartment..which is why i said what i did

go to cleanmpg.com and you will see just how many people block off the front of their cars

all SGII that were available for sale after July 2007 have the X-gauge built into them..chances are whatever you are seeing on amazon probably has it..they just aren't saying it does

nope it does not you need a separate wideband gauge to measure that.

I also tested it from a 30 mph roll and it worked as well. No more 9999 mpg and 0.0 HP and the GPH was still reading and didn't go to 0.

It worked when it was closed and when it was open. Highest HP I hit this time was 128 hp.

Modern fuel injected engines use a neat trick to save fuel. If the vehicle is in gear and coasting (foot off the throttle) under certain conditions it will turn off the injectors. When this happens, the MPG goes to 9999 (the largest number the ScanGaugeII can display) for MPG and the GPH goes to 0.00.

On some vehicles, the older program could not detect when this happened. The fuel injection would keep computing the fuel it would be injecting if it were not in fuel cutoff and report it to the ScanGaugeII. Starting with version 3.10, we added more checking for this condition. This is why you didn't see it before the upgrade.

I have found on my 01 F150 that I have to turn off the overdrive when coasting downhill to get it into this mode, but then if I turn the overdrive back on, it will stay in fuel cutoff until I step on the throttle or drop below around 40 MPH. This is a neat trick to save fuel. This is why you can actually use less fuel in a modern engine leaving the engine in gear than if you put it in neutral when coasting.

Ron

So, if I show the 9999 mpg (or in my case 0 LHK [litres per hundred kilometres]) and I have the x-gauge, I shouldn't do anything?

What would changing fuel to hybrid (don't shut off when engine does) or doing an open loop really do then? If I did have it run when the engine is off but am achieving 'perfect economy' then would it not show 0 LHK anyways?

Also which way is 'better'? The hybrid choice or the open loop? and if the open loop I think someone might have to explain that to me again

Yes, I set the tank size correctly. I ended up just reloading the defaults.
I guess i'll keep trying.

Karl, have you got it set it yet?

From what I think the manual says, you fill it up to full, select 50L (or 49 etc) and enter how much fuel you filled up at the tank. Then drive to 1/4 of the tank remaining/5 bars. Fill it up again and instead of clicking done, change the % to how accurate the gauge is to your bill - if you filled up 35L then the tank might show 40L and you change the percent 16.67% or so.

That's my impression of what it says, I don't know if that's correct cuz when you fill up the first time, I guess you'd have to be at 1/4 remaining or something? not sure.

Hmm.. I hit 150hp, MT

while driving to and from work these past couple times i've been experimenting with drafting..the only way i could see it's effectiveness is with the SGII

I got it in the mail yesterday and gave it a go. I taped it to the area I said infront of the gear box. What are you guys doing with the wires? I guess I would like to hid it somewhere, but so far I have it tied up in a loop to shorten it, which just sorta sits there next to the gas pedal/gear box.

Yea I got it working. I did not see your reply to my inquiry. Sorry about that.

I basically just full tanked the car, and reset everything to defaults.
Then did the set up again and told SG I have 50L tank. Then it started off at 50L.
Drove about 150km. do the fill up thing (It was off by 0.3 liters. Not so bad.)

BTW I have SG2 w/ Xgauge 3.15
I do get the 9999lhk (or 9999mpg)
I only get 0lhk occasionally when coasting.
but mine is set to gas, not hybrid.
