I doubt it. I mean its taking readings right from the ECU not the sensors.

What's causing the CELS? Any electrical/computer sci wizards out there? I'm about to buy this thing but, if it is causing some disturbance in the electrical system thats tied into the ecu I prefer not.

does anyone know if after a certain date if they come with the X gauge already installed?

i just got one for christmas and now am wondering if i need to send it out b4 even installing to get the extra features...

i saw on their website that if it was purchased after July 2007 they would update/install the "X gauge" for free..

Yea the ones now should have the newest software. Just plug it in real quick before you mount it to make sure.

Just got a scanguage for christmas and it's awesome!

What code is it to make one of the x gauges hp? I read the manual but didn't see that in there.

The live gas mileage is strange. Accelerating I get like 9 mpg, coasting I get 9999, haha, and cruising I get about 40. It's strange that it averages out to about 32.

Wow, accelerating uses a lot of gas, but never knew it was that much.
I agree, the live gas mileage is strange. I gotta stop looking at it every time I coast!

i mounted mine on top of the dash(the flat bit behind the steering wheel lol) on the left hand side.. i then ran the wire down under the door seal to hide it, along under the floor mat, and up the other side into the OBD port.. it fits perfectly that way and only took 2 minutes to install

ill get some pics later as its raining at the moment..

This was buried in a thread long ago. I decided to do a small hack to hide the cable, and just slightly modified the visor assembly, meter (lower). This runs a small patch cable out to the ScanGauge II.

This DIY is provided as-is, use at your own risk, blah blah blah.

Parts list:
  • Highly recommend Helm Service Manuals, but you might be able to get by with the instructions for installing the XM Radio. (Not Shown)
  • ScanGauge II
  • Visor Assembly, Meter (Lower) [I got mine from hondapartsdeals]
  • Cat5e SuperFlat patch cable [I got mine from vpi] (In hindsight, I might have gone with a longer cable.) IMPORTANT - NOT CROSS or X
  • RJ45 Coupler F-F Straight [ditto] IMPORTANT - NOT CROSS or X
  • KTC Trim Tool Set (Helm Service Manual has the Honda contact info, or try various specialty auto tool web stores.)
  • Wire Ties and Cushion Tapes (Not Shown)

What we'll be doing:
  • Remove 7, Visor Meter Assembly (Lower)
  • Remove 18, Cover Assembly, Driver (Lower)
  • Remove 15, Cover Assembly, Instrument Driver (Lower)
  • Remove 8, Meter Panel

  • 1 Confirm operation of RJ45 F-F Coupler - Patch Cable and ScanGauge II.
  • 2 Remove the Visor Meter Assembly (Lower). YOU WILL NEED THE KTC TRIM TOOLS TO DO SO. See the service manual. Start with the four tabs on the right, then the three in the center, then the two on the left. Now you can see what you are facing for the modification. You'll want to remove 1/16" of material at the center of the leading edge of the visor, wide enough to clear the cable. Use tools you feel comfortable with for this. I used a dremel and Xacto knife.
  • 3 You've got the anti-theft code for the Radio? Write down the station presets.
  • 4 Disconnect the negative terminal for the battery.
  • 5 Remove the Cover Assembly, Driver (Lower) - the instructions are even in the Owner's Manual for this step.
  • 6 Remove the Cover Assembly, Instrument Driver (lower) - just tabs. See details in service manual or the XM installation instructions.
  • 7 Remove the Meter Panel - a screw and tabs. Disconnect electrical connectors. See details in service manual or the XM installation instructions.
  • 8 Run the ScanGauge Cable from the DLC (honda speak), under the steering wheel, over the knee brace, and then fish up past the ventilation ducts to the upper meter area. CONFIRM THAT YOU ARE NOT GOING TO INTERFERE WITH STEERING MECHANISM, INCLUDING RANGE OF MOTION OF THE TILT/TELESCOPE!

  • 9 Connect RJ45 F-F coupler to ScanGauge cable, and the CAT5e SuperFlat cable to the coupler. Secure with wire ties and cushion tape as required.
  • 10 Reconnect electrical connectors and loosely install Meter Panel.
  • 11 Verify connections, reconnect negative terminal and check operation.
  • 12 Disconnect negative terminal.
  • 13 Reinstall rest of trim.
  • 14 Reconnect negative terminal.
  • 15 Enter the anti-theft code for the radio, restore presets.
  • 16 Enjoy.

I haven't bought one yet... still waiting for Jan.

I'm going to mount it to the roof of the pocket/container under the radio I think.

i dont think all the fuel is used in gph mode. most of it is returned to the tank via the fuel return line. to add hp...

To start, from the HOME screen use MORE>MORE>MORE>XGAUGE
Then in the top right select the number of the XGauge memory you want to use (0 to 24)
Next <EDIT this will take you to the TXD screen
Using the buttons next to + and - after each character the -> in the top right will move to the next character space.
Enter 00 into the TXD screen and press OK> You will be taken to RXF
Enter 400080000000 and press OK> you will be take to RXD
Enter 0000 and press OK> you will be taken to MTH (math)
Enter 000A00170000 and press OK> you will be taken to NAME
You can enter whatever name you would like up to 3 characters, when you are finished press OK>
Lastly press SAVE.
