I love my scanguage but as of recently, I had to clear a check engine light. Well the other night I told it to clear the code (P0137) and it woudln't. Tried several times and gave up and went to bed. In the morning, there was no light on the dash, but the SGII still scans and gets a code. That's wierd. It still won't clear that code but at least there is no annoying light on the dash lol.

Anybody else have issues clearing codes on a 2006 Si? I cleared a code on my buddy's VW Rabbit last night with no problems. So, I figure my scanguage is working just fine. Beauty of the scanguage is when it threw the CEL, it took a snapshot of the all the current sensor readings. I love this thing :)

actually I think your ECU took the snapshot and the scan gauge can view the snapshot it took.

Oh, well cool :) I just reset the ECU... That cleared the code If there really is a problem, it will come back which will mean I need to replace the secondary 02. In any case, the ScanGuage II is great! Now after using it to diagnose my buddy's car, he wants one haha

2 Questions for you guys:

1) Would you really trust it? I was driving home yest on the highway and hit 0 bars... not wanting to take the risk I filled up pretty soon after - like the next exit. It still read on the gauge 59 or 69kms left (my trip would only be about 30 at that point) but it seemed kinda risky to me. What do you guys think?

When I did fill up, it read 44.1L (which is why I f-ing bought it in the first place as the light goes off too fast IMO). I squeezed 43.8L in it, which is why I think it might actually be that f-ing accurate. (that's 99.4%) And its been that way for the past 3-4 tanks.

So would you guys trust it?

2) My dad has a CEL in his car - if I take mine out to use it on his car, would it f up all my numbers, requiring a reset/retraining? Id really rather it not as it does seem to be giving me the numbers I need. If the 59/69 (i forget i was tired) was within 1% then its exactly where I want it to be.

^^do you reset the fill up and enter in the actual amount of gas you put in? Mine was off by 100 miles the first time, but im on my 3rd or 4th tank since i got it and its very acurate now....But i dont rely on it. Plus its better to fill up sooner anyway since the price of gas may be 5-10 cent more if you wait till the tank is empty.

and the SG can be disconnected withut losing all your info. I have done it before and it saved the info so when i plugged it into my car again it was like i never unhooked it

I don't trust mine, it is usually pretty close, but i don't want to risk it.

I wouldnt worry about it being off resetting your dad's cel, just plug it in, reset it and put it back in your car and you should be fine.

The SGII is pretty accurate. But I wouldn't trust it if the distance to empty drops to under 100Km for good reason; The DTE changes depending on the current driving situation and fuel consumption. So a DTE of 50Km when driving on a highway may potentially drop to a mere 5Km when you're suddenly stuck in traffic.

Yeah but when I filled up with 44L and it said 44L there's a good chance I had the distance in it...

But I don't want to risk it.

That's true. Besides, although our gas tank is rated to have a 50L capacity, we're not sure of how much of the 50L is available to the engine, given the varying manufacturing tolerances.

Okay, so a little success story with the gauge - I used it on my dad's Odyssey, found the code P1491 - turns out to be a EGR valve issue - and there's a TSB on it and he qualifies for replacement.

So would they have still charged him the $106 for the diag read or not if its a warrenty (extended outside then normal range) item?

If so, I just made back more than half the cost of it unit

the cost would have been included, but your always running the risk when you get a diagnostics test. I had that problem with my nissan the light came on, got it fixed, then it came on again and they said they would charge me if it wasnt related.

My scangauge is about 99% accurate on MPG. You can go at least 30 miles past zero bars of the fuel tank gauge.

out of curiosity, what margin of error do you guys set it at?

the first few tanks were like 26-40%

now its consistently at 9%

So far, I'm dead on 0% (actually, less than 1% error so I just set it to 0). I've had 8 or 9 fill-ups since I got my SGII.

Does anybody else have problems clearing CEL codes with the scanguage on their Si? Mine won't clear the codes for whatever reason. Everything else works fine. I can scan the codes and get all the info, it just won't clear them.

well im thinking that

A) you saved the code on the sg hence its staying?
B) you didn't actually do what it required you to do to fix hence the problem 'comes back'?

Well, I def fixed the problem because I plugged the MAF sensor back in. The CEL is gone because I reset the ECU. Still though, when the CEL was there and i told it to clear it, the screen went blank and did nothing, which supposedly means it's not getting a response from the ECU and the CEL was still there. It's just weird. I would have thought that it could clear CELs on this car. That's why I wanted to confirm that someone else has actually done it. If not, then maybe it just won't work with this car :\ I don't know.
