i got it today and hooked it up. I need to find a good spot for it. I want to keep it out of direct sunlight, so i dont want it on the dash. i was thinking about in front of the tach, but it will block my odometer, and trip settings. But i also want it in my view while driving so i can glance and go, so down by the shifter wont work. I also want to hide the wire.
I love new toys to play with. I cant wait for this weekend so i can find a good spot. It seems like GPH is best for fuel economy. I want that, MPG, MAP and VLT. I am sure i will change it, but thats what i will set it to tomorrow. |

I'm pretty happy with my mount location in the centre console cubby.. it meets all your critera. And with the HP thing, there's a code for it online somewhere. But the problem is we think it might not be accurate. I've hit over 200 hp somehow in my R18.
Xgauge just lets you add trip data to the gauge cluster + a few more. The manual describes it pretty well, it gives you codes for recalling a specific function, then the math, then the name. Then there are the game genie codes for HP etc which are also on their site. Manual: http://www.scangauge.com/support/pdfs/SGMan5_0.pdf HP: ScanGaugeII - Add-A-Gauge 99 Lives + invincibility: http://www.scangauge.com/support/ Last edited by wing_gundam; 04-10-2008 at 12:42 AM. |

^^thank you very much. What do you mean by add trip data? it is only visible in the trip data screen? If thats the case, then HP cannot be seen on the live part.
Another question i thought of today. What degree of intensity do you guys use? If on high are there any problems with any readings? Sorry for all the questions, i just wanna learn as soon as possible insted of trying it out and messing something up that i will not be able to fix. (You may say its not possible to mess up, but i have heard that before) |

^ What he meant is that you can have some of the trip data appear as one of the gauges. The major difference between the built-in gauges and the trip data is that the former shows only real time data, whereas the trip data shows them as averages for the current, today, previous day, or tank trip.
You can create up to 24 XGauges, whether derived from any of the trip data or a customized XGauge (like HPR). Once an XGauge has been configured and added, you can access them by going to Home>Gauges and cycling through the available gauges using any of the four buttons. As an example, I currently show the following on my SGII (1 built-in gauge and 3 XGauges): Name / Description LPH / Realtime Liters per 100Km : Built-in gauge CFE / Current Fuel Economy (This is the average Liters per 100Km for the current trip : XGauge TFE / Tank Fuel Economy (This is the average Liters per 100Km for this particular tank of gas : XGauge DTE / Distance to Empty (Pretty much self-explanatory) : XGauge All of these are in the manual. Nope. It will keep coming back until you get a defouler. The computer is sensing something wrong with the O2 sensor and will not be permanently cleared from the ECU.

i do have a defouler (weapon R).
the thing is i dont have any of this stuff installed yet on my car......hopefully next week....(BCRH and Skunk2 70mm). I am just asking a head of time becasue i know more than likely I will eventually see a CEL. I was just hopeing that this Scanguage would get rid of it when i needed it to. Now someone said that after u clear it using the guage......u then have to drive for like 50 miles........for what purpose is that? |

when you clear it with the gauge, you are clearing the cars ECU of stored engine codes and recorded driving patterns. there are a series of certain driving conditions that need to be recorded to ensure your car is properly working and for emissions tests.
in the manual, there is some information about the codes and the quick way to generate them if ever the situation arose |

ok i think i get what u are saying..........so when i get a CEL from the 02sensor and clear it with the guage then the ECU will be cleared of all codes and then I would have to drive the car for a while to reset all the codes back into the ECU?
So if I get a CEL every 19 miles like some ppl get then i would have to do this all everytime? Sorry for all these questions but im learning! |

i'm not sure myself, as i do not have a defouler (let alone any headers/engine stuff)
but, if you are getting a CEL and want to clear it with your scangauge, it will wipe all engine codes. i do not know of the 19 mile thing, if it is exactly 19 miles then i have no idea, but if it's sort of around there, then i would imagine, the people driving these 19miles have filled some requirements for the engine codes, and the ecu found something odd in a certain driving condition. |

My ScanGaugeII Placement
Here's where I settled on putting my ScanGauge. I was able to slip the cable behind the paneling so it's only visible where it connects to the side of the display. This puts it out of my way but still within reach.
![]() Here's one where I realized the shifter was in the road but the shutter caught me in the act of moving it. ![]() ![]() I recommend that you put the ScanGauge in a couple different places on a temporary basis until you find your favorite. It's not until you're behind the wheel for a few miles in different driving situations that you'll realize what a good position really is. I had thought about putting it in the small space below the shifter since the display fits great there but I had to look too far down from the road to use it. Anywhere on the dash itself was too far for me to reach. Last edited by OrdnanceMarine; 04-12-2008 at 07:00 PM. |

Just the included strip of velcro. I stuck this on the top of the display and stuck the other side on the bottom of the lip that's between the upper and lower storage cubbies. The included velcro doesn't work that well. After two months it's falling off of the panel every few days. I'm going to try some better velcro. I had the first gen ScanGauge in my Accord on one set of velcro for over two years and it's still holding up (the first gen is probably 5 times the size of the ScanGauge II).
