TEST PIPE?!?!? Besides the $50000 AJP

Does another test pipe for our cars exsist? I am sure the AJP one is nice i just cant bring myself to pay 400 for it. What do you guys think, would race header really net more HP than a test pipe? People have said that our manifold is pretty well made to begin with. Anyone know how to weld and wanna make me a test pipe?

test pipe

RT actually makes the downpipe. Other people sell this pipe, not just ajp. I actually bought it from ajp it's 499.99 plus shipping. I didn't really notice a huge gain. You can definately feel it more when vtec kicks in, and it does change the sound of the exhaust. I only purchased because im going turbo.

I may be wrong, but this seems like something that a muffler shop could do pretty easily

wrong. there is a specific flange that you need to use, and most exhaust shops won't carry it. plus, they probably won't do it because it's illegal. i would know. i tried.

p.s. megan racing is working on theirs right now.

I'm going to make my own. It isn't hard. I made the exhaust for both of my DSMs

People are just straight stupid for paying $500 for a test pipe from any company. I'll bite my tongue about the rest.

Megan Racing is developing one so I'll just be waiting for it. Their products have a much more reasonable price tag.

I'm sorry, but what the **** do you have to develop? It's a god-damn test pipe. This car has been out for a year and a half. Whatever.

the car uses a very uncommon 3.5" flange and the placement is very different than most applications; not just the usual straight piping.

if you really believe it is so easy, try contacting a muffler shop and see if they can custom fab a 3.5" flange bent test pipe for you and let me know how it goes. i'm sure you wouldn't succeed.

I had my local exhaust shop make my test pipe.I just told them to make me a track pipe as they call it. They can make it but can't put it on. cost me $40 for the 3" pipe. Used a 2 bolt header flange for $25. I have the AJP 3" exhaust so it was just $12 for the 3 bolt collector then $75 labor. They also made me a 3" carsound hi-flow cat setup as well. So it was $152 for the test pipe and $247 for the Carsound Hi-flow cat. came to like $426 and some change with tax. I cant really feel any difference between the test pipe and the Hi-flow cat setup.I'm sure its only a couple hp difference. Cab sound is louder with the test pipe on.
