I think Sirbelch's concern is that a race header w/or w/o a cat is not going to be smog legal in California. If the vibrant header cat combo is going to be CARB certified then that would be a whole different thing. Unfortunately us in california cant just go slapping on race headers, aftermarket cats etc. without a lot of headaches. In fact the RT cat isn't even CARB certified although it would be better to use it than nothing at all in Cali, like he stated it may just be a fix it ticket if pulled over and cop does a thorough check of mods(not sure how often this happens). As for smog you would probably have to put back on your stock cat to pass a visual smog check.

Hey, thanks for all the responses. I will check Excelerate's thread. Just ordered an Injen CAI and am planning a Tanabe Touring from Excelerate so I might add the RT as well. The dyno numbers are very impressive.

A. I doubt the Vibrant header will be CARB legal since the RT cat isn't, I live in Cali.

B. If its not CARB legal, I don't want to swap the stock header/cat with Vibrant header every 2 years.

C. I already have the Comptech shorty header which is CARB legal.

It took me 5 hours to put that header and exhaust in. I dont want to spend 5 hours every 2 years swaping that damm thing out. Since i have used the RT Cat before, and got away with it without paying anyone off or knowing anyone, and the Cat is a 20 minute swap, it is the most viable option for me like i said before.

I have gotten the fix it ticket for not having my CARB stickers on me. I had to pop my hood and everything. I had to go to the Smog Ref and they past me with the RT Cat.

Sorry for the delay in response. Only other performance mods I have are SRI and vibrant cat-back. The R/T cat really opens it up, can't wait to get the reflash.
