DMH Electric Cutout Pre/Post Dyno ...Updated....

http://www.dmhperformance.com/ecutout.htm

I know that many of you will think why installing this instead of a Cat-Back system. I just can imagine how many people will be wondering: "why that guy decide to use it ?".

The answer is easy, the reason that I decide to use it on my SI is because local laws prohibits the use of aftermarket exhaust systems for performance or noise purposes. I don want a shinny exhaust that will attract police that is dying to give me a fine of $100 for changing the exhaust.

With the E-Cutout, with the touch of one finger I can open a valve on the exhaust system that will reduce to almost zero backpressure. IT sounds horrible like a top fuel racing car but at least give a few ponies.

Here is the dyno chart with a before and after run, showing the gains fo the e-cutout.

This is perfect for those who dont want to spend a lot of money on a catback and also want to look stock in the outside. I installed this between the DCRH O2 sensor and the end of the header.

I dont have pics because right now looks horrible, I will take it to another person that have lots of experiences in doing custom pipes.

Here is the video clip from inside the car.

Here is the video clip from outside the car.

+1 for dyno charts!

+Rep...I was just wondering earlier how much an e-cutout would dyno.

I had DMH's on my Z28 and they're definitely the best out there, and Dave has great customer service!

I wonder how much it'd mess w/ the cat if you put it before it. I mean if you only opened it for the track or when your on the "track" for runs only.

^^ I alway recommend to not touch the OEM parts. In my case I cut a piece of the DC Race Header, if in the future I need/want to go stock again I can do it with confidence because I have everything OEM intact.

This is the switch

As I said it looks pretty awful, there isn't way to fix it the way I want it. I got the stock catback on the car I don't want to mess with it. There are better spaces between the cat and the muffler to install the e-cutout. I only do custom things on aftermarket parts. When I decide to go back to stock again I dont have to regret anything, I just install everything and I have my car stock again.

Some of you must be wondering how it sounds. Just imagine a CRX without muffler it sounds the same way, when iVtec kicks it sounds a lot more louder, the switch can be heard loud and clear inside the car, I can't imagine how sounds outside of the car.

+1 and AGAIN proves that the backpressure bs won't reduce your tq and power with this car. if there is no exhaust and you STILL gain power on both tq and hp, how can ppl argue the fact that larger exhausts 70mm-80mm (2.75"-3") is usless in this car without f/i or major mods or blah blah blah!

No ****... I might just go ahead and get the Weapon R header and have this on the down-pipe and keep everything else stock.

To tell you the truth I was all nervious of this mod because of that. No backpressure = loss of power

But my tuner was right he told me "Stop bitching and install it, you will thank me" and he was right once again.

It's nice to see someone experiment once in awhile.I think i have an idea how it sounds..probably close to un uncorked DCRH(L-O-U-D ).Anyways, repped you for being original and a pioneer in this area.

If you've ever heard an open race header on these cars it will sound close if not the same as that. It's loud, abnoxious and it vibrates the car at certain RPM's(you feel it from the inside).

Bossman is right, if you have a Race Header just remove the end and leave it open it will have the LOUD sound. Also that opening its just below the center console you can feel and hear the vibrations.

First my previous car was a 1999 Tiburon with I/H/E + a good setup 75hp N2O. The car was with me 6 years three of them were with the nitrous kit no problems with it, pretty strong engine.

Yeah I know it looks horrible blablabla. There was no other way to do it this crap is pretty big and in the place that I wanted to install it, the space is very limited, its a miracle that was installed. I didn't want to install or build a custom CatBack because that means more noise and that is equal to better chances to get stopped by the police here and fine me with $100+. I don't fear those pig heads its just that I not in the mood and I dont have the time to go to the court house to try to remove those tickets from my profile.
I really dont care how it looks, the only way to view is to rest in the floor, also my car isn't for exhibition and at least is do his work.

Another thing to add I dynoed the car with nothing installed after the DCRH and the numbers were pretty/equally similar, so for now it does his job well.

If you prefer to do a complete that is fine, but you will remember me everytime a cop stops you because you have an exhaust setup.

Its not fear that I have the problem is that I don't want to lose my time arguing with a pig head and very important Time = money.
