Any particular order for mods?

Ok, so I've had my Si for about 4 months now. It is completely stock except for the Comptech short shifter. I was wondering if there is any order in which to get the mods? Also, which mods make the most notable differences?

I hear lighter rims such as the Motegi Tracklites, are the best first (technically second) mod, is this true?

I plan on dropping the car on either HFP or tein basics, but should I buy rims first or drop the car first?

As for engine performance, I was thinking Fujita SRi, Apexi N1, SSR RH, HonDATA reflash, and 75 shot of n20 (in that order).

Finally, do you guys prefer doing suspension mods first or engine mods? Keep in mind, I will buying these parts one at a time (money is kinda tight) so please, gimme your honest opinons.

Thanks.

i would do engine first.

intake first just because its the easiest mod, and then do the exhaust and header at the same time because they are connected.

i would get the rims first and then drop it so once you get an alignment your set.

it's really up to you. The order i went in was...

1. Injen SRI
2. Progress Sway bar (1&2 done same day)
3. TWM SS and Auger boot.

About this time I realized that SRIs aren't for me and decided I wanted Hondata.

4. Injen CAI
5. Random Technologies High Flow Cat
6. Vibrant Exhaust (4-6 are all on order and will be done the same day)

Next will be Hondata, then HFP or some other suspension (I have a SI sedan so I have to wait a while... sedans FTW!!11!) then wheels. I will probably get some tracklites or if my friend can get me a good deal maybe something made by rays.

either way you're going to spend a lot of money and have a lot of fun.

Thumbs up

I get my car back today ( Can't wait!!!! - I am so excited I had to tell someone. The guys at work are ignorant about cars..lol. )

Here's what I am having done:

K&M Typhoon
Random Tech Cat
Progress rear sway
HIR Headlights
PIAA yellow fogs
Accord horn
GM Synchromesh
Smoked Tails

Already on order:
TMW SS & Bushing set
Auger Shift Boot
Skunk 2 knob
Intake Gasket
HFP badges

These are inexpensive mods - and should make the car a BLAST to drive. I am also dyno this week or next week to show gains.

nbilyue,

could you post a thread on this setup once you get it installed...I have Injen CAI and have been thinking about just going with RTHFC and Greddy SP2 for exhaust, no aftermarket header. Just want to know how it works out.

Sorry about the threadjack...and I would go with intake for first mod...easy to do, gives some power, and makes the K20 sound mean.

Thread hijack #2! You guys looking for RandomTech cat's should report here ASAP. We have NINE people that have payed for this in the group buy. 1 more and we get the $325 price, which is a steal and will be going up the next group buy, as well as regular single orders.

Random Technology High Flow Cat Sale: Civic Si (GB Merged)

Go get it cheap while you can!

If added performance is what you seek most go that route. If you want looks get rims, and finally if you wanted better handling get the suspension parts. Your questions are hard to answer because it really comes down to what YOU want most. Get it all over time, but the first mods are personal preference.

I always do the IN's and OUT's for performance then I go from there... you can split off and do suspension / looks then get serious or leave that for last after you do the more hardcore engine mods. Doesnt really matter but having the supporting mods (intake-exhaust) is a good way to start.

Hey Mabuz, yeah I'll write something up. I was gonna get a race header, but don't feel like changing it every time I get it inspected. Plus when I had my EP3 and replaced the header on it, the stock one was so good it was just throwing money away to replace it and it seemed like the only real problem was the cat. ALl the parts should be here and on my car by next week. Then once I pay some money off on my card I'll be sending away for hondata will add something about the difference that makes with this combo.

sweet, thanks nbilyu, I've heard kind of the same thing regarding header swaps for the FGs that you mentioned about your EP...Shorty = not too much hp gain vs. stock, so the only real option is race header, and I'm not even going to touch that due to emissions/inspection either, changing that out and back every year would get real old. Can't wait to see how your setup works out.

I do the suspention frist. I usually try to have all the suspention mods then get the i/h/e pullies, IM, cams, ecu. But i really like to turn fast. My car came with 225/40/18 so i didn't need wheel/tires until i bent them just recently. First mod was Tein SS. Then i broke my own rule and got Comptech shorty header and exahust. Now I bought Tein Flexes that aren't hear yet as well as an UR pully set. As for the bent rims, My Motegi Track Lites 235/40/17 should be here on the 9th. Those rims should be 10 lbs lighter per wheel than the 18s i bent. That will give me better acceleration, braking and handling. I think it will be the best mod I've ever done. But its up to you. Go with your heart.
