As fun as it is to change stuff up, I wouldn't change the tranny fluid unless you have a reason too. "Don't fix it if it aint broke." So true cause whenever I mess with Shiz It starts having issues.

Do you mean Royal Purple Synchromesh? If so, it's a great MTF. Which Civic do you have? If it's an Si, I would recommend replacing the Honda MTF. I used Amsoil MTF and have been very happy with it. The factory stuff is garbage and many people's trannies have been overfilled from the factory. I replaced mine with Amsoil at about 2000 miles and shifting got a lot smoother and the dreaded 3rd gear grind because a lot less of an issue.

If you have an Si I would change it. I used Amsoil MTF and it shifts alot smoother and no more 3rd gear pop outs. Go for it. Easy mod, and theres a nice DIY on here.

well i already have to go there so they can replace the clutch pedal, so i made an appointment for them to change the fluid, my symptoms are the same as others however sometimes i hear a whine coming from the tranny, should the fluid change help this out.

trust me, buy another brand like amsoil or whatever.. dont go with the honda update.. buy amsoil and make them put it in. they cant void your warranty AND it will be better for your shifting.

with honda updated mtf you WILL get the 3rd gear grind and possibly from 1 -> 2

So I have this stuff in my trunk. I told the dealer to check out the notchy stuff that I've been experiencing and everyone else. They did and said there was no notchiness/problems. I was like...WTF? So we are just all imagining this? He said that he wouldn't suggest putting in the synchromax stuff so I wouldn't risk voiding the warranty.

So I still have it in my trunk. After reading this post though, I'm going to have them just put it in.

THERE wont be warranty problems because you used another fluid. there are many topics concerning this. if this was the case, then you cant use the windshield wiper fluid from anyother company and use engine oil from any other company. amsoil, gm, royal purple exceeds standards so there will not be any problem. you have my word.. i have honda mtf and i still grind gears every now and then..

dude i bought royal purple synchromax yesterday, went to a chevron oil lube to have them put synthetic mobilone in my engine and the royal in my trans.Anyhow their shop guru,You know the old guy whos been doing this for 25 years,said that it would be bad to change the transmission fluid to a different brand and if im having an issue to take it to honda. What he doesent know is that i called honda that day and asked the parts guy what kind of mtf is compatable for our transmissions and he said only honda stuff is ok and that i will void my warrenty.BS, anyway i dident change my trans fluid cause the guy was pretty convincing, he was talking about additives and detergents an stuff, so im just going to buy 2 quarts of amsoil soon and be done with it.Oh btw my engine feels quite a bit different(stronger)after changing to Mobil 1 fully synthetic. It definetly pulls harder.I recommed it highly.

Just to add what previous post said about mobil1 full synthetic, I changed my oil at 5000 miles to mobil1 and could tell the engine ran much smoother an no longer sounded like a sewing machine. Still using oem filter, but considering changing to K&N oil filter or Mobil1.
M1= HIGHLY recommended...
