On the fujita intake can you remove the swirly-air thing?

I just ordered one the other day and I didnt realize it had the air swirler thing and I have avidly been against them since they came out in the early 90s. Is there any way to remove it or just not install it?

also, does anyone have a pic? Can any of the pieces fly off?

ETA: looking at the pics on fujitas site- is the swirly thing built into the filter? like in the top of it?

velocity stack(sp) the thing in the middle that accelerates the incoming air into the filter?

I know what you're talking about and only a few intake kits come with it. The Civic's kit does not include it.

It looks like you are talking about the design of the Fujita air filter. If that thing in front of the filter is a hole than I'm not sure, but if it is simply like a funnel that makes the inside of the filter more areodynamic then I would say its a knock off of the Apex-i filters.
