I don't think you will notice much of anything other than sound with a muffler. I'm not even sure if it would sound good going from the stock pipe and dumping into a 2.5" muffler. (I'm not exactly sure what size our stock pipe is that goes into the muffler now???). If your like me, you don't want that fart can sound!
I do know that the HKS cat-backs sound awesome. I had one on my Sentra before I got my Civic. It made that little 1.8L in it sound great. Not ricey at all. If they ever came out with one for our Civics, I would get one in a heartbeat. |

DON'T DO IT!, i have the same exact hks muffler on my si. i cut off the resonator and ran 2.5 pipe back to the muffler and tilted it a little. the only reason i chose this option was for the tilted look. Bad decision on my part where as there is hardly any room to tilt the muffler sideways, and it eds up looking like i just backed into a curb
. The Muffler and no resonator combo has a really deep tone to it wich i liked, and it sounds good ass hell inside the car, but outside the car is a whole different ball game. when the car is cold, anywhere above 5grand sounds like a little bumble bee is shaking around in the pipe. you also get the same sound everytime you hit VTEC.In my opinion, do not atempt the ricer ass exhaust set-up. ive been kicking myself in the ass ever since i put it on. i am about to rescue my car from falling to the darkside of Rice, by cutting off that shitty exhaust and replacing it with the new Greddy Ti-c exhaust. ![]() |

despite what many others have said, I will disagree. Cutting off the OEM muffler and adding an aftermarket one (HKS, magnaflow, tanabe etc) won't do anything to the sound except make it sound a little deeper, but you won't get that fart can noise. before the muffler is the cat (i'm pretty sure about this) and its pretty restrictive. so it keeps the noise down. The only way you'll get fart can noise is if you have a hole in the muffler from rust or something, other than that.. it'll sound just like a low quiet note. far from a full cat back. As for performance gains.. probably nothing. Magnaflow claims that by changing the muffler to a less restrictive one saves some gas. |
