2.5inch header to 2.36 exhaust

Would I see much loss in this? I am considering running an evo2 with my ssr header. I guess this would create a little backpressure.

SSR? I thought they werent available yet.

Anyway, I highly recomend 2.5+2.5 setup. 2.36 may cause engine chocking on top end and You'll loose power.

Yeah, I cant seem to find a decent 2.5 though, most people that advertise 2.5 are actually 60mm or 2.36, and I want one thats not too loud.

think the only 2.5" catbacks are the comptech (which i don't think you can find) and the vibrant. correct me if i'm wrong.

And i hear the vibrant is pretty loud, and comptech is tolerable which sucks because you cant get it anymore.

The EVO 2 starts off at the flange of the cat at 2.36 and works past that point at 2.76

Nope it doesn't. I just took mine off today. It's straight gauge all the way to the muffler. I wanted to believe what people on here had posted but it's not accurate.

Then i have been fed the wrong info from quite a few websites. Many of them say 60mm-70mm and after emailing them they all said the same thing. That is starts off at 60mm at the flange where that cat is and works it's way up to 70mm the further down the midpipe. If your info is true that very dissapointing. I was looking into getting the EVO2, but want a good size mid pipe where the stock midpipe is 2.0 inches in the bends and 2.25 in the straights.

I heard the same thing. 2.36, towards the end, right before the bend going over the rear axle is 2.76

I didn't break out the micrometer but yes Reliant K20Z3 and I both agree it looks straight gauge.. I can see the 70mm difference vs the 60 mm.. we had both the Skunk2 and the Mega Louder r laying next to each other on the ground and the EVO is 60mm.

Go Skunk2 with the insert.. With the factory CAT and header and insert it's not too loud.. If I wanna Auto-x or 1/4 mile I can just remove the silencer for more power and Mega Loud R...

yes, there is a definite power loss felt between the skunk2 70mm and the evo2. In fact Cappy and I removed the cat yesterday and put the test pipe back on, and the skunk2 feels better in vtec WITH the cat on, then the evo2 without the cat on. the difference isn't night and day, but is noticeable.

in summary, skunk2 70mm is mega power and mega louder.

however, the evo2 is SUPER quiet compared to the skunk2. this is what i wanted.

maybe i just gotta wait for my car to get used to the evo2 a/f or something, i dunno.

find yourself some 100 octane and fillup before you reset.. I have done that a few times and it helps..
