Throttlebody coolant Bypass mod
I just wanted to chime in and say, this was a great mod for my car. The SRI is sooo much cooler now. I can even touch it after sitting in traffic, which wasn't the case before. I also added an extension to move the air filter farther back and lower to try and get a little bit more cold air. Anyways, all in alll the car runs much better and better response. I highly recommend this mod for ayone in CA. Thanks

what kind of extension did you use? i thought that intakes were tuned for the cars and already had the best gains they could get with what they had to work with. also....you can wrap the intake in the exhaut heat shield wrap if you are that concerned with it sucking in hot air. (worked great for me) |

I did notice the power curve is smoother when transitioning to the "higher" cam. I assume this is due to the thicker secondary pipe and bigger K&N Air filter I switched. I did swap filters on consecutive test runs to makre sure I wasn't making shit up in my head. But the mods have helped in the midrange.

I wish you had a way to monitor IAT. I'd like to see how much this mod dropped the IAT's. Normal SRI's run 22 or so degrees hotter that ambient outside air temps under best case conditions. In worst case it can be 60 degrees more... |

That would be nice. But it's hard to keep the SRI cool and get cool air. You really only have the option I choose, which was to go back as far as possible and low. I'm going to fabricate a heatshield that will divert the cool air from below. I know people are going to say, "why not just get a CAI?". But, I'm not most people and would like to come up with my own ways to get performance out of my car.

I have the K&N with the heatshield it doesn't seem to help. I also had thermal wrapped the intake but that just made the temps rise slower. However it took much longer to decrease the temps when moving once they had risen. |
