K24 build

I was thinking about possibly building a K24 for my SI. Just wondering how much it will cost for the engine and all the parts to build it. I am looking for 300+hp and atleast 200+ft/lbs torque

Theres allot of research involved in this... how much do you want to spend?? They have a stroker kit that could make that power.

yep.. as cool as a built motor sounds it would be way more pratical to put a bolt-on turbo kit to your motor.

not really, if you sell you stock engine after the install you'd get a lot of you money back. But I will agree a n/a car will never make 375 whp as reliably as a turbo will.

i only know a little bit about engines, but why cant you get a stroker kit, then get f/i, and then just change the compression?

stroker kits increase the stroke to get more displacment, not good for boost. and a high cr on a fi car will defnitaly lead to detonation.

Aren't you the guy with the 150whp Si? Why don't you find out what's wrong with your current engine first.

OK here are the facts. 300hp can be done, reliability...low. My brother built a K24 from a CR-V with RSX type s head on his RSX. He was doing 275 WHP and 199 WTQ . The car is a daily driver and work just fine and still running to this date, very reliable and taken to the track weekly, but tuning was a bitch. Remember that tuning the K-Pro for a daily driver with killer cams, big as throttle 13.1 compression, big injectors and much more so you can reach that kind of power, have to go with your tuner and just driver for hours. Money wise is very expensive, with the amount of $$$ spent it's better to go force induction and be a lot faster than a 12.5 @ 110mph . Don't get me wrong I'm a true believer of N/A power, and have most of the goodies to do it to my FG2 but...we need a F@#$ing K-PRO to do it. Without it forget it. My 2 cents.

Isn't it impossible to do this because of the DBW?

Personally, I'm a huge fan of N/A power. Keep us updated if you actually are under taking it.

Actually if you get the correct compression pistons for this then it is better to increase your displacement regardless of method of making power.A larger displacement engine will spool a turbo faster than a small displacement one will given that are using the same size/trim turbo.A larger engine can also spool a largwer turbo as soon as a smaller engine can spin a smaller turbo. If it was truly a bad idea then there would'nt be strocker kits for the supra, skyline or evo.the right pistons and a good tune will solve all detonation problems

Why would you want a stroket kit, do they have some sort of advantage over a k24?

Cost wise:
TODA 2150 Stroker Kit, 2157cc, $4,120 + kpro $1500 = $5620
k24 block, $800, - k20 block, $200 + kpro $1500 = $2100

okay, the k-pro price is a complete guess, and I'm not completely sure about the block prices, but you get the general idea.
