I have a fujita sri and its great
CAI is maybe 2-3 hp more but sri pulls better.Heat soak is heat soak.its not as bad as everyone says it is.I rather have heat soak then hydrolock. And sri is easier to clean.Fujita SRI FTW

i am glad that you are proud of your product that you have installed in your car. hydrolock is rare, only if my car was SUBMERGED in water to the TOP of my headlight so my car could suck up a massive amount of water.

Is it really worth it to spend money on an intake? Honda already fitted us with a CAI on our Z3's... I bought a K&N drop-in a few months ago, and I guess what I'm asking is is it best to stick with that or really go for a whole new intake? Do you guys really notice a big improvement over our stock intake?

yeah they have a CAI stock on them..... but the ones that come with you car is very restrictive compaired to some of the aftermarket ones.... but that does not mean that the one that came with your car is no good, its realy not bad at all (and prolly the best when it comes to MPG's), it just could be better on the performance side of things.

I'm with you. Since we have a less-flashy version of CAI come stock in our cars, the best thing, IMO, to do is to take out the intake resonator and fashion your own intake pipe down under the battery for a less-restrictive system that still gets cold air. This is my plan of action, having put in the drop-in filter.

anyone have intake on his A/T civic
i know that this was asked several months ago, but i just installed an injen cai on my a/t 1.8, and i had no problems with it

i didn't have to cut my wheel well, either. i just needed to cut a small hole to the left of the wheel well so that i could fit the intake tube to reach where the resonator box used to be so the filter could go there

i just cut a small hole where the bumper meets the splash guard (making sure that i didn't cut where the two connected) and i left the part closest to the wheel. that way i can get some cold air coming up the underside of the bumper, and if the wheel were to splash through a puddle, it would hit the part of the splash guard closest to the wheel and not soak my filter

i'll take some pictures of it and post them soon if anyone's interested

ok..., so here's what happened...

It was poring rain here in south west wisconsin, and i could barly see out my windshield. well, i'm still driving, slow that is, and i completely didn't see a MASSIVE puddle. well, i drove right through it and my car started to sputter, then died.

it's still on that road. i called the tow company and they towed it to their shop.

basically, am i just screwed, or is there a possibilty that is can still be fixed?? i am a college student, so if "being fixed" mean's a whole new motor, then i'm just screwed...!

thanks for the help, i really app. it!

Depends on what exactly went wrong. Basically you sucked up some water through your intake from your story but what matters is how much and for how long, only way to know is when the shop checks out your motor. Don't expect everything to just work perfectly, but who knows!

This is why I'm installing a bypass valve on my CAI. I just got it all today, install is sometime this week =D

i do have a bypass valve (i should have mentioned that).

thats why i'm so pissed and worried. I thought the whole purpose of the bypass valve was to prevent hydrolock. maybe it's just the quality of my whole cai.

This may be a nub question, but how does the SAE smoothing affect the numbers on the dyno?
