Wait for Icebox or purchase a Fujita SRI?
So I'm looking to get an intake for my SI, but I don't know if I should just wait for Comptech to release their Icebox or just pick up the SRI right now. Does anyone know approximately when Comptech is releasing their Icebox and about how much it's going to be? I've heard nothing but happy customers with the Fujita.
At first I was looking at the Injen CAI, but I don't know. I live in Northern California so rain and hydrolock isn't THAT big of a worry. This is going to be my first mod on the car. What do you suggest? -Wait for Icebox -Get the Fujita SRI -Get the Injen CAI I plan on getting an intake, exhaust, and reflash. After that, I'm gonna be done modding my car unless I want to go the supercharged route later down the road. Decisions, decisions. Help me out 8thcivic! |

I called comptech 2 weeks ago and they said 2-3 months. I'm waiting. The comptech will give you the power of a cold air without the fear of sucking water into your engine. Further more the quality will be unmatched. i'd wait. Two words, Delayed Gratification.

from what i know, their initial release will be an SRI. the CAI icebox will probably come soon after that (when i don't know till they release the SRI). personally i'm going to wait for their release then make my decision then since I have to save up money for it anyways. quality wise i really don't see any difference from any manufacturer, esp. since AEM seems to have fixed their CEL issue. for overall performance gained, i wouldn't expect any significant difference between each one as well. bottom line: it's really a matter of preference IMO. if you want the performance gains now, go for it. otherwise
and wait like me

oooh, for pricing on the icebox/intake, it will probably be along the same level as their previous incarnations. the SRI will be about $200-250, and the CAI (if released) will be about $275-$300. again, this is all speculation and by all means not verified till they have a working model

Injen CAI FTW.. own it love it.. CAI puts better HP than ice box which is the same thing as an airbox i think... goes for water suckin.. well alot of people are scared and stuff, but in reality you dont have issues with that.. if your car isnt submerged into a pool you are fine.. regardless of how hard it rains or anything.. balls up and dont stress it..

I just intalled my fujita last night and it is great. I chose fujita because it seems as though they are the only ones who consider filter design. I like the K&N for the heatshield. The best of both worlds would be a Fujita sri with the K&N heatshield. Then on the outside of the shield add some of this to it:
