i/h/e for Si Sedan, performance > sound

/noobalert

ok the options out there are mind boggling. i'm not interested in loud, if what i end up going with = loud then ok, but i'm much more interested in the moddest boost in performance an i/h/e will net me.

i'm a total newb when it comes to tuning, however, working at an H dealership helps, but still looking for opinions from people who have 'been there'.

from *reading* i am gravitating towards a Fujita SRI. i know sri's can be louder then cai and not produce quite as much power, BUT, living in the good ol' Pac Northwest i'd be paranoid about hydrolock, even though i know its a very small chance of happening.

header... clueless.

exhaust... i've heard there's a bit of a lack of catback exhausts for the sedans? is this true? better options out there? is there a 'threesome' of i/h/e that would work well together for excellent performance for the sedan?

also, no emission requirements where i live, however, remaining emissions standard wouldn't be a bad thing.

and when all is said in done... reflash / tuning eh? what kind of expense / equipment / timeframe am i looking at to get this stuff tuned properly?

sorry for the high level of noobishness and thanks in advance for the input.

i/h/e wouldn't be too bad of a perfomance gain...something like 200whp after the swaps...but the real performance gains come from the ecu reflash from hondata (it engages the vtec sooner, an increases the upper rpm limit). If you would like even MORE whp, lightweight pulleys would be the next option. But beyond that, your gains will decrease to about 1 hp for each mod. So, if you want to spend about $2k on parts and labor for modest gains to 210 whp, that's your call. But if you want a real gain, go with forced induction and grab a turbo kit. Installation will cost an arm and a leg, but will gain you more whp for the buck.

And then if you get your mind right, you'll realize that you're paying $27k overall for a 250 whp car...and then you can spend the extra 3k, and get a subaru sti wrx

the plan is to eventually get the redshift s/c :), supposedly that alone will get me 300whp. also planning on the hondata reflash (actually that was part of my question... so that seals the deal and i'll do that), and i was also considering pulleys. fortunately labor will be cheap for me, since i'll just hire one of our techs to help me on saturdays at the shop. but i'm a newb and really trying to find out where to start. thanks for the info!

also... i'm a honda salesman, not gonna be driving a suby hehe.

Intake $260 DC Race Header would be $500 or $275 if you find someone selling it on this forum Reflash will be $595 magnaflow exhaust $370.00 with all these combined roughly a little under 2K you should make about 20-30whp which is almost the same amount as the greddy turbo kit. Now if you plan on going FI dont waste your time or money doing these upgrades becuase they will do you no good instead save your money on a good kit like the AJP. Its expensive as hell but worth it 350whp estimated cost with installation about 8K. Which does make sense what the other person said might as well should of gotten an EVO or STI but hey i think if you want some decent upgrades under 2K you cant go wrong with the above listed. Good luck

so if i go with the AJP turbo or the redshift supercharger i should just skip i/h/e? right now i'm leaning towards the redshift kit, 350 whp from the AJP kits seems like a lot of flippin stress on the stock tranny etc, not to mention the 350whp AJP kit is crazy expensive when all is said and done.

$595 for the reflash eh? didn't realize how much that was gonna cost. thanks for the info!

If you're going FI, do not skip the I/E. Skip the header because the turbo manifold will replace that anyway. Don't get a reflash until you know what F/I route you're taking. You wanna make sure you're tuned properly.

Not trying to threadjack, just offering some insight into the depth of consideration of an I/H/E combination:

You know, it's a real tough deal when you live somewhere where emssions have to be force though. It sort of forces you to go the I/H/E/ECU/Pulleys/IM route. For anyone that dosen't live in an emssions required zone, they buy one supercharger/turbocharger and one ehxaust, have an install, and that's it.

For me, the options are NA, or comptech supercharger. That's all. If Redshift can get on the CARB bandwaggon, that ensures also that I would pass emissions.

I pray every night.
