Alright so I just picked up an FG2 a few days ago. My last car was an '03 Accord K24 Turbo, I had my fun while it lasted. Now so far I love my Si but it's been stock too long now. I can't decide whether I want to go boosted again, or go a different route and go N/A. I'm leaning towards all motor because this is my daily driver and reliability is a big factor. Let me know what your opinions are.
I am currently in the same debate. It is so hard decide.... all motor is def the more expensive way to go and it def has a certain satisfaction to it when your done. I always wanted to do an all motor k24 build and make around 300hp with it. But recently i have been having thoughts of a stock boost motor build then going k24 later such a hard decision good luck
Imho. 300whp isn't enough , 400 is perfect but buy a used greddy kit~2k-3k and upgrade the turbo, injectors, and some other small things, search supas cheap boost recipe
Making 300whp all motor RELIABLY is VERY EXPENSIVE. It's much much much cheaper to do it reliably with boost.
And Austin, you're not making 300whp at 6psi. Quit exaggerating... It's more like 270-280.
Whether 300 or 400 is enough is all opinion and up to the person driving the car. There are pluses and minuses either way and it's all about what you're looking for out of the car... the more detailed you can be with your goals, the less money you'll spend wasting to get there.
Yeah, you can spend 4-5k with boost and make 300-400 depending on how much boost you want.
Or you can spend 4-5k with all motor and make 250-260. To get to 300 all motor, 4k is the cost of just the long block you need. The price just goes up from there... a lot.
Now that said. I AM IN NO WAY HATING ON ALL MOTOR. Just talking numbers. I love all the ways you can make power. If all motor is your joint, do it. Spend the money and enjoy it.
I had 400whp in my Si w/boost and it was awesome.
I drove GO Power's shop Si with 300whp all motor K24 and it was awesome.
take into consideration that you can get individual throttle bodys. i am a turbo lover as well. or maybe the k24 block k20 head built, ported and polished, cams, gears etc...
Yeah please research before pulling trigger! Its alot of money either way i would say but all motor will cost you if you want power out of it. U can drop some cams in and call it a day but that wont satisfy ur appetitie for power. Its a snowball effect with all motor. Wanna rev safely past 8600rpms gotta change the oil pump and remove balance shafts ,valvetrain is a must on anything besided drop ins. Then u really need the right exhaust, header intake throttle body. And this stuff all cost, then if your like me with no time shop or eqipment ur gonna drop money to have everything installed and tuned more money. If i didnt buy the cams from the start i think i would have just bit the bullet saved and slapped on a full race complete turbo package and called it a day.
It all depends on what are your goals making 300whp on a allmotor cost a lot of money it is very fun though. Turbo seems expensive at first but you have so many options to make more power.
how are you making that much Hp with less than 5k invested? I've got a Greddy Turbo Kit with a Full Race 3" Cat-Back Exhaust and Greddy Blow-Off Valve running on Hondata Flashpro. That cost me well over 5k and thats the cheapest route i know
