$3000 budget, suggestions wanted
Hello all,
I have a 2011 SI coupe completely stock, i want to get some more power out of it on a $3000 budget. I am sure I will get the usual bolt on stuff (header, intake, throttle body, cat back) but I want to know if you guys think I should go the bolt on route fist or save some more dough for some forced induction. I know the bolt on’s will add to forced inductions potential but I cannot afford both right now. This is the first SI I have owned and have limited experience tuning a car like this. I have done bolt on’s before on my 2000 ex and have decent mechanical skills so I will do it all myself to spend cash on parts instead of labor. The car is of course my daily driver and reliability is important to me, but I’m willing to sacrifice it a bit. I know that’s the nature of the beast. If you guys can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. Thanks |

Stay N/A for DD!!! You would still have to get supporting mods for the Supercharger so it would be more than another 1k...
Yes it will be smog legal if ya get the header with the High flow cat... ImportDPS rick spec items are anything but ghetto... If you do anything get Hondata Flash pro first and get it tuned when you have everything you want on the car. |

They aren't hmm that's odd. Op with flashpro and a tune that alone is $800-$1000, that varies mostly on how/where you choose to tune. So really your looking at 2g's for power mods, or anything else.

There's a sheeeet ton of things you can get for $3K. Do you want that in all motor performance or exterior or interior or suspension? I mean for $2000+/- you can get a I/H/E and Flashpro from just about anywhere (Check with Go-Power, Import DPS, Evans Tuning, XLR8 Performance, etc.). With eTune you will see 200-210hp easily and its a pretty legit power increase for starters. Then decided what you really want to do. Another $1000 into the engine (intake manifold + TB, pullies, stage one clutch + flywheel, motor mounts) Exterior (hood + trunk, headlights + tail lights) Suspension (used wheels + tires, coilovers or lowering springs). Just take your time and thing about your goals.
In my opinion, a used supercharger would be good but thats like $2000-3000 for the kit alone. Not to included Header and exhaust to optimize the output needed. Thats another $1000-1500 easily. Then you have to worry about tuning and possible upgrading your clutch depending on how good yours is right now. After the end of the day, thats nearly $4000-6000 depending on what you do. Not to include tuning and any accessories you may need to support which mods. Either way you go, think about what your priorities are and go from there. A lot can be done with $3000. The problem is the smog/carb legal. The only choice for power would be the Comptech supercharger. And an Intake thats carb legal. Also flashpro. Once thats done everything else can be done to modify it that doesn't affect the smog like suspension, brakes, wheels/tires........and so on. Thats where you can fine tune the car and the possibilities are endless.

Op you your self need to decide weather or not you want to save more money for forced induction. Here in the allmotor section people will be more inclined to say stick with n/a. If you save more yes you can go the superchager route and is relatively easy to make 270-290whp~, I said easy not cheap. Then again with with the stock bottom end you can do 240-250whp~ while keeping it allmotor while spending the same if not more than a
Supercharged application. You need to decide what you would prefer, it isn't always about the power but how the power is made. That's how we enjoy our cars. Either way you'll always spend more money over the course of tuning than you had initially planned. |
