So many choices.

I have an EX and I'm planning to get a cold air intake for it. The problem is there's so many of them, AEM, Injen, Fujita, etc. Which of these will give me the most hp? I don't a lot of stuff under the hood but I can read a manual and I'm good with my hands :) . Also it's an automatic, I'm not sure if that helps.

Lots of people seem to be favoring the Injen CAIs nowadays.

A lot of people like Injen since it doesn't give you a CEL, like the AEM does sometimes. I have an AEM SRI for my Si, the main reason I got it was because all of AEM's intakes are either CARB exempt or pending exemption.

^^ I also heard that the AEM has a bypass valve that keeps water from being sucked into the intake, and the Injen does not.

I have an Injen CAI on my Si and love it! It makes the car sound mean, but not obnoxiously so.

Incorrect. AEM makes an intake that has this feature, but not for the 06+ civic. They never will release this accessory because of interference with the MAP (or MAF, whichever it is).

So Injen cai it is! What if I decide to get a turbo kit for the R18 someday, wouldn't the cold air become useless because of the turbo? lol I'm not sure.

yeah i just got my injen CAI installed today.
a grueling two hours
but worth it

when you start the car it sounds stock
when you accelerate it sounds stock (well all i hear is my magnaflow)
and you start hearing it start to suck air in after approx 3.5K RPM and it sounds pretty mean

about hydrolocking... i think after asking many questions and getting a lot of the same answers back, i've concluded that many of us take it too seriously and magnify the problem more than it should be. of course, it is a possibility but a small one.
if you think about it, normally if you see a puddle, you wouldn't attempt to drive through it and just avoid it. so more of a reason to with the CAI.
it has to be submerged, if it gets splashed nothing will happen.

another thing to think about, the temperature inside the engine compared to the outside. it is much hotter inside the engine bay and on all the surfaces inside the engine including the CAI, so water will more likely evaporate on or before the filter and if it gets in the filter, theres a long way to the engine.

it must be submerged with a plentiful source of water being sucked up. in most cases, that wont happen if you're smart about it.

good food for thought, injen is the way to go.
