Cutting fender for Injen CAI

Hey guys, I'll be picking up my Injen CAI tomorrow hopefully but hesitant now cause I've read every single thread about the Injen CAI and cutting the fender wall for it to fit.

some have cut it, and some have not. those that didn't had some problems with rubbing and cutting into the pipe.

another conclusion was if there was foglights, that was another problem.

anyways, i've read but if I cut through it, what would honda say?
is it replaceable?
wouldn't water get in that when driving?
i'll bring it to the shop and ask if they can do it without cutting and to secure it down so it reduces rubbing as much as possible if any at all.

anyways, main question is... would it be replaceable by honda?

yes it is replaceable... just buy the wheel wall..
and you really have to cut the wheel wall to let the CAI sit in real good..

and for the water. just avoid any water on the road that looks deep..
im getting paranoia every now and then everytime i drive it in the rain.. i drove 4 heavy rain already and nothing happen so far...

i dont think im too paranoid about the rain as i am about the cutting of the wheel well
but when i get it, i'll probably be paranoid about the hydrolocking
i'm sure though that it'll be okay, i think everyone is scared of it because it exists.
just like when you dont have a CAI, you wouldnt drive through a big puddle, so more of a reason not to with a CAI.

I have one on 06' ex no rubbing, Make sure to put it all togeather before you tighten any clamps, That way you can make sure you are clearing everything. It will run real close and if you don't like that you can cut a rubber hose and put it on the wheel well where it is close to prevent rubbing and noise. Also might require you to slightly bend upper bracket to get the nessary clearance.

I did not have to get new clamps, As for being a jerk.....You don't have to tell them how to do their job, just let them know that you heard they run real close them and ask them to make sure they do all the can to keep it from rubbing....I am sure they will understand.
And if you want you can leave off the 2nd part of the pipe and use it as a short ram... I think the company said it can be used both ways, And I do not see why you could'nt

yeah maybe thats what i'll end up telling them. thanks

and about the short ram, many people have said that it cant be done by the looks of it. i havent looked at it myself, but can the filter attach to the 1st pipe the same way it does to the second? if thats possible i'll see what they can do.
although, doesnt the first part of the pipe go into the middle of the engine bay?

Yes it can be done. Your filter will be just below your battery behind the radiator, Its not the coolest air you can get but no short ram is. All a short ram is for is to get rid of all the baffels the air goes through in the factory airbox.

No, no rubbing on anything, the plastic guard i had to take off to put it in (right behind the front bumper) went right back into place and actually hides the filter away from the direct pavement which i like because i feel it gives it more protection to rocks and water and stuff like that

awesome, thanks.
one more question, how long have you had it in there and have you checked recently if there was any rubbing that you didn't know of?

I had to use new clamps. Some hoses were too big for the hole. So I used clamps from my old civic that broke down.

And plus, if u have fog lights, it will push against your filter. That's what happened to mine so I had to cut the wall. Plus the instruction tell u to cut the wall.
