1st oil change

I just changed my oil for the first time, everything was great until I noticed where the filter was. Getting the factory oil filter off was my main problem. After trying with my hand and then a strap wrench now avail I finally just stuck the damn thing with screw driver to get it off. I replaced the filter with a K&N which has a 1" nut on the back, so it shouldn't be anywhere near as hard to remove next time. I will probably try with ramps instead of next time which I will have to purchase, but will probably end up just going to base and using a finger lift. By the way, does anyone know of a way to keep all the oil from the filter from running everywhere?
