Hi Everyone,
This is my first post on the 8thcivic. I live in Canada BC Vancouver. I got my Honda Civic Sedan during the Spring in 2006. This is my first car and first time on trying to get my car to look cool and all. I have a few questions to ask before I try anything on the car. In advance, sry for being all noob in cars. Questions: General 1) For a A/T LX model, what kind of mods would help me get a better handling? (Problem: get kinda drifty around corner, especially I go on Highway to get to school) 2) Should I go back to Honda dealer to install the mods that I wanted with them? or should i go with other body Shops? (Anyone got any good body shop (in Vancouver) with "good" prices) - I’m Chinese if that helps? Exterior 3) Does the Fog lights do any good? i don't want to spend $600 to get them for no reason. (rather spend it on something better) 4) Sticker problem: Do the sticker (like logos/ etc) come off after 1 or 2 year after wind, rain, snow? 5) Carbon Fibre Hood: Does Galaxy Grey Metallic match with the black Carbon Fibre? how about the fiber trunk? 6) Should I go to with full body kit from Honda? or should i order online from http://www.streetconcept.com/shopdis...=Civic+06%2DUp ? Interior 7) Does Honda dealer have Blue LED interior lights? (any website?) 8) What can i do to improve the power (whp) on the LX model? How and how much will it be improve? 9) Bass System: Even though I think the stock bass system is nice and all, but I want to buy an add-on bass? Any sites/ recommendations? 10) Sedan Chrome Exhaust Finisher (the tip) or HFP Si Sport Muffler http://www.collegehillshonda.com/hon..._exterior.htm? Which one is better for the LX model? Does the Sedan Chrome Exhaust Finisher do anything? Sound better? How about the Sport Muffler? More questions coming...have stuff to do right now. Will post pics later on after I get my new rims and wheel installed. THANK YOU for answer! |

1) Your perception of a car's handling can be improved simply by changing your driving posture. The physical handling can be improved anywhere from a tire upgrade to anti-roll bar upgrade to full suspension upgrades. It just depends on how much improvement you want. A lot of people will mod their car like they were going to race the car (at the racetrack, of course) but never use the modifications to their full potential. 2) If you don't have the proper tools or know-how to install the modifications yourself, bring it to a reputable shop. This may be the dealer or the mechanic's shop around the corner. Go for quality of workmanship rather than looking for a cheap price. If it happens to be cheap, then so much the better! 3) Fog lights are not necessary, even in foggy areas. They do help in the fog, but most people get them for looks. There have been complaints posted here on 8thCivic that some fog lights have cracked due to incidents with road debris. 4) Stickers don't add +5 whp, contrary to popular belief. The only sticker that is necessary to be displayed is an 8thCivic.com sticker. In all honesty, there's no guarantee that the sticker you use will stay on forever. You can do certain things that will improve adhesion (like cleaning the area of application very well) which may increase the chance that it will stick longer, but accessories that aren't mechanically fixed have a higher likely hood of falling off over time. 5) As far as I know, a carbon fiber hood is not yet available for the sedan. Also, as far as I know, a carbon fiber trunk is not yet available for the trunk. Does black carbon fiber match with Galaxy Gray? The smart-ass answer is of course it doesn't. Does it look good? That's up to you to decide. You can request to see if someone will post a picture of their GG coupe with CF hood to see if you can get an idea of what it would look like on your sedan. 6) Whether or not you want to add a body-kit is entirely up to you. There will be people who do not like a certain style while others may be totally in love with that same style. 7) If your Honda dealer doesn't have the accessory blue LED accent lights available, they should be able to order it for you. You can also try hondapartsdeals.com or collegehillshondaparts.com. You might also be able to find some other viable accent lighting alternatives in the I.C.E. or DIY forums of 8thCivic. 8) You can make some single digit HP gains on the LX with an air intake and/or an exhaust upgrade. All Japanese Performance is working on getting together a R18 turbo kit as well. 9) How much bass do you want? If you just want to add a little more, you do a one-for-one speaker upgrade over your stock speakers. That might be good enough. If you want to make everything vibrate in the car, adding a subwoofer is the way to go. 10) An exhaust finisher (chrome or otherwise) only improves appearance. It's just a piece that slides over the existing exhaust pipe. Some aftermarket finishers may enhance the sound, but only slightly. Note that an exhaust finisher is not the same as an exhaust tip. The HFP muffler is claimed to improve both sound and appearance. I know I didn't technically answer your questions nor did I give you what you wanted to hear, but hopefully my thoughts will give you some additional insight on what choices you begin to make with your car. |
