troubleshooting: K&N typhoon.

Got my K&N Typhoon today. Presassembled it, and found that the little black grommet (black silicone 1/2" hose) that goes into the intake does NOT fit at all. Its too tall and way to narrow.

Falls out easily.

Is this normal?

I don't have my car until wednesday. Maybe whatever goes inside this grommet will cause it to expand?

HELP

Thanks

Same thing happened to me. I just trimmed the top off and then wrapped it in a bunch of tape... Now it fits nice and snug.

^ Well wtf, you'd think they would fix this. lol. I hate doing (no offense to you) cheap gimmicky things to a new car like that, but if that's going to work, then I'll try it. or just go to my parts store and see if they have an half-inch-wide x inch hose.

It's not so much cheap as it is just doing what K&N should have done in the first place. The way I see it, if it works it works.

sorry man, my post sounded a little rude. What I meant to say is that we shouldn't have to resort to doing this kind of trickery lol.

I'll give that a try once I get my little princess Taffy. wow, i didn't just say that

i just trimmed it down a little a bit so it would sit flush with the intake...and it works fine.

I trimmed mine down and held it in the tube by using some adhesive. I haven't had a single issue with it.

i trimmed mine down as well. it was still narrow going in, but i didnt use any tape, glue or anything. Its really hard for it to slide out once its installed. Ive had in one for almost a week w/no problems at all.
