Dyno Time - 195.4 whp & 141.9 ft/lbs

Well I just got back from the dyno with great results! I recently installed a Injen cold air intake and a 6000k hid kit and wanted to take the car to the dyno to see what she could do. I really wanted to get a before and after dyno but just didn't have the time. All I can say is the intake really made a difference in power. My best 1/4 mile before the cold air was a 14.51 @ 96.7 mph. I went to the track yesterday (11.05.06) and ran a 14.36 @ 97.6 mph. Track thread can be found here: New PB - 14.366 @ 97.62 mph -

I only did two pulls total w/o air fuel. One to clean it out, and then a power pull :) This was done on a DynoJet @ www.bigshotdyno.com

Mods:

- Injen cold air intake (black)
- Royal Purple motor oil 5w - 30
- 6000k HID kit

Video: Still working on getting it up and working

Enjoy!

The HP numbers dont mean squat without a baseline run on the same dyno before he did his mods....

But that is a nice 1/4 strip time!

It's right next to Kent State, and not to far from Akron.

Guys, seriously, it IS the HIDs. This one seller on ebay says that because it runs on a little lower wattage, it reserves more power to where it needs it the most: the engine.

Almost died laughing when I saw that... HID's for more hp ftw.

OMG seriously people. I was simply saying I installed the HID kit at the same time as the CAI. I never said that it added to the power of the car.

Your dyno was done in factoring in the STD correction and not the SAE correct. STD correction will almost always yields a higher horsepower number (so people believe their car is making huge power over others). Here's a little information on the correction factors between STD and SAE:

Quote:
SAE corrects to the following standard:

77F
29.23
0% RH

STD corrects to standard sea level atmosphere:

59F
29.92
0% RH

As such, STD will always show a higher HP number than SAE. Why? STD corrects to a Density Altitude (DA) of 0. If you plug in the SAE values, you get a DA of ~1990.
Your typical dyno will be done using the SAE correction factor. Expect your results to probably drop a lot using SAE. Hell, I dynoed 186whp SAE the other day and when converted to STD it was actually 201whp.

In conclusion, your dyno place just used a different correction factor that yields a higher horsepower number making you happy. Probably 90% of the dynographs on this site are done using the SAE correction. The stock ones that have 200whp or inflated numbers like yours are using a correction factor that will provide a higher horsepower number.

SAE numbers were: 190.7 whp & 138.5 ft/lbs
