The engine requires 5w-30 or 10-30 in warmer climates. Its hot as hell in FL so i'm thinking of switching to 10-30.

Running M1 EP since 2,000 miles w/ hamp oil filters. Tried royal purple but didn't like how engine noise went up after 2K on the oil.

Want to try Enios but dont like that 5-30 is not a true synthetic.

the thicker the oil the more hp robbed and heat not released. you should run as thin as oil as possible while still maintaining the correct oil pressure when you see a drop in oil pressure at idle then you went to thin. Also if you take your car to the dealer I would almost bet my car that they put 5-20 in it. Ive been running amsoil dominator 0-20 and 5-20 for 25k now and It never burns a drop and I have also notice better mpg.

i use RP 5-30 since 1st oil change....i change it every 5-6k mi. when i first switched, everything got "super-smooth" and i swear i noticed a slight bump in power.....maybe placebo effect or wishful thinking, LOL.

I mixed oil one time, and I got the most nicest, smoothest, comfortable ride ive ever gotten. But I really dont think its highly recommended to mix, or top another oil brand even if its the same Grade. If any of you want to know..

Royal Purple, and Mobil 1 was mixed, but mobil 1 was alittle over 1/2 quart.

So you mixed about 4 quarts of Rp with 1/2 quart M1?

I lost 1 quart cause it blew up somehow.

If im not mistaken, I used 4.5quarts of Royal purple, and half of Mobil1, or maybe alittle more.
I dont remmber, but what I do remmber is that my ride was alot alot smoother, and the comfort level of everyday from pulls, and coming out of 1st all the way to 3rd gear was a very nice different feeling. All I remmber to tell you frankly is that I mixed, and that it felt ****** good, and ive changed my oil numberous times, just that this time I actually had to mix what I had at the moment at my friends oil shop cause he didnt have royal purple, and I hate doing my own oil cause my hand is to big to actually grab the oil filter. Idles also were alot calmer. I gotta ask my friend tommorow, but it was 5w30 royal purple with 0w20 mobil1, or 5w20, ill ask him.

I wouldnt actually recommend it, cause I dont think its safe to do every often, but at the moment I had to.
But mind you, my cars from Miami, its hot, and some oils act different in different states I assume.

^I'm sorry but the smoother engine feel that you got was just from having fresh oil in the engine and nothing more. It has been proven that oil DOESN'T add much power over another oil. I've seen dynos where the oil was changed with RP and the car dynoed 3-4Hp more so they claimed that the RP oil was responsible when in reality they could have changed the oil with regular dino oil and got the same hp gains. The gains are from the engine having better lubrication from the new oil so there is less power loss due to friction.
All oils have pretty much the same properties. They're all oil and lubricate the engine the same way.
Synthetics offer better high temperature strength, flow better at low temps, hold their viscosity better, and are typically infused with more cleaning agents so you get longer oil life.

My point is, I've tried all the big brands of oil and didn't notice any change in performance because the difference is so small, you won't feel it. You can't feel an extra 2-3hp.

I didnt say anything about gaining hp, never in any of my oil changes have I ever felt that, not even with a P2R spacer have I felt a different. What I mean is the smoothness of the engine overall was alot better, I mean alot alot better. I this was alike 3oil changes after I started using Royal purple so I know how it feels to change my RP 5w30, car doesnt feel any different cause im so use to it. Ill be stepping up to 10w30 tommorow, and I highly doubt ill feel a ride difference ethier. But that mix was crazy, and I doubt anyone has tried it.

Why dont you change with RP and drive around for a bit. Then drain half a quart and add some M1 and see if you notice that same effect.

Do it for Science!!!

I dont have time, and it would be a waste of my time, and I dont like sweating now adays especially with this heat. I can barely to meets I get invited too here..

I actually wanna try it out again, but I have to ask my friend cause hes the one who remmbers what grade oil he used.

i've used
mobil 1 5w-30 EP 3 times and i've had no problems with it at all

mobil 1 5w-20 EP once and it sounded like it got noisy in the engine bay so i wont use that again. maybe it was to thin? but thats when the car had about 20k.

penzoil platinium 5w-30 which wasnt bad i actually liked it and the only reason i used it was because they didnt have any mobil 1 at the time

mobil 1 0w-30 which will be my first time using since i changed my oil today hopefully it will be ok.

i've used honda oil filters for the first 4 oil changes and the last 2 times i have used the mobil 1 EP oil filters. i really dont mind paying extra if it really protects my motor better then the cheaper oil and oil filters

I use both 5-20 and 5-30, and honestly, the 5-30 always runs smoother and more quiet, but the 5-20 I get better fuel mileage. It has its tradeoffs. And I buy my filters in bulk from honda, and my GF works at Acura

I always do the first couple oil changes with dino oil, as the pistons set their grooves better with conventional, then switch to synthetic or blend and the motor will last forever. Never had a catastrophic event, and my highest mileage vehicle is on its 4th or 5th trip over the odometer, and is showing 75k currently.
