TWM Short Shifter and Base Bushings installed (pics)
I jumped the gun a little bit and decided to install the SS and the metal base bushings this afternoon instead of tomorrow. You all know how it is, you just can't wait to do a mod after you receive it. Anyways, the install took a long time because changing out the base bushings with one person is a PITA!!! I dropped the first rubber bushing I removed down inside the console and then i dropped one of the metal ones down there. Ended up disassembling the entire center console to get to it. If anyone decides to replace the rubber bushings with metal ones by yourself, do yourself a favor and get some sticky-tak to put on the bushing so that it stays put on the shifter while you work on the other bushings. Trust me on this one. So 1.5 hours later, everything is buttoned up and ready to go. The first picture is of the TWM Short Shifter in place, the second picture is a picture of what the stock rubber bushings look like. They are replaced by aluminum ones. I'm not sure how useful this mod is (the bushings). It doesn't seem like it's going to make that much of a difference. IDK, we'll see. Anyway, I'll drive it home, since I'm at work, and let you guys know how it feels.

I couldn't agree with you more; getting the bushings into place was a major pita. Tack would have made it alot easier. However I think the whole job is easier if you just take out the center console from the beginning; it takes all of 10 minutes to pop it out.

4 screws and 2 push pins. 2 screws in the pocket under the rubber piece, and 2 screws in front of the shifter assembly. Then there is a push pin on each side up by the wheel wells. All you have to do after you get those out is pull back and up and then disconnect the plug to the right of the shifter to take the console completely out. I posted pics in my install guide that make it easier to understand.

TWM sends detailed, photographed instructions with the base bushings. It was very straightforward. All we can tell you is that you might want to remove the center console for this because everyone that has done it thinks it is the best way to install the bushings. There is a DIY on how to remove the center console floating around somewhere on this site.

I just ordered my shift kit and bushings from http://www.twmperformance.com/ They offer 10% off for students. That is great for me being a college student with limited funds. Just contact them and they will give you a promo code. That brought the total down to $90 shipped.

Sorry to bring an old thread back to life but I am going to order a TWM short shifter today or tomorrow, I am just undecided about ordering the base and cable bushings with it.
