Lowering the VTEC Engagement Point Question

I know the Hondata reflash lowers the VTEC engagement point to 4800 under full throttle and 5800 under partial throttle. That's cool and all, but I really don't like to "floor" the accelerator. It may sound wierd, but I really want to shift less and enjoy being in the power band longer. When K-Pro (or whatever it will be subsequently named) comes out, there should be an option to lower the lower the VTEC engagement point to where-ever your heart desires.

Now, my question is, if I were to lower the engagement point to 4800 while only under PARTIAL throttle, will that be too much stress on my engine? I just really want to get more midrange without having to floor the throttle. I know there will be additional wear due to the higher cams being more aggressive, but it people with the reflash seem to have good reliability so i wonder...
