My shifter is all weird now

Heres the long awful story... i got some corsport cable bushings and i went to go put them in and i couldnt get it on the stupid rod thing for like 2 hours.... then the bushing got stuck on the the cable ring thing so i finally took it up to honda and the mechanic put it on there like it was nothing... during the process i managed to break off the cable boot thing but not the whole cable... the mechanic said its fine its just to get lube in there or something... well after i put everything on i was shifting around to see how it feels and its real rough and if i put the shifter to the left it will stick there a little and if i push it to the right it will stick a little too instead of going back in the middle.... any idea at all what could be the problem??? i have an 07 so i didnt put those little snap on rings around my bushings i cant imagine that would make that sort of diffrerence... help me out guys this is pissing me off and i think i might need to get a new cable thing.

I have the corsport bushings and I put the bushing clips on. I don't think that's your issue though. Sounds to me like you may have bent the cables/linkage or something. When I installed mine I removed the bolts on the cable bracket to provide for more movement so I didn't risk breaking or bending the cables. My corsport kit went on a bit rough as well, but I got in on in like 30 minutes. I probably would have gone with the TWM if I did it again.

I would agree with you that your problem is a little bigger than just the clips.

the cable may thread through fine, but I would think it's going to remain that way unless you get it fixed. I wouldn't think that would straighten out, that is if its bent. I've read few other posts about people actually snapping their cable and having to replace the whole linkage, which is costly.

It sounds like your bushings are frozen on the posts. They need to rotate freely on the posts.

If they are not rotating freely, maybe a little oil will help. If they are too tight still, then the holes in the bushings will need to be reamed open. I believe an 8mm diameter will do it.

Posted pics up top hopfully someone can tell me what i need to do... im about to go up to honda and see if i can get 2 new of those boots on there and those silver metal rings that go on the bushings because i put those things to hell and im sure one of the reasons is the bushing is stuck in that ring and its not letting it move around.

theres probably no aftermarket ones, looks like you twisted that cable a little to much. its gonna be a bitch to replace them too.

ya know, remove the clip and the bushing and see how the cable moves. maybe you just kinked it putting on the bushing?

It happened to me once too. I broke that plastic boot. Even after i fixed it with zip tie, it still was messed up. I would say... you need a new cables. A few people here had the same problem, and at the end they just replaced cables. There is no aftermarket cables as far as i know. I've odered mine from college honda. I've done it about a year ago. Not too hard but takes time and patience. I dont know how much dealership will charge.

well the cables i think were 100 dollars for both but honda quoted me 435 dollars to do it... lets say i left unhappy. im gonna buy the cables but i need a place that can do it for me unless theres a DIY around here? can u link me the part on college hills? or have the part number? i think i just messed up the boots over the cables i think my main problem is having strutking and corsport cable bushings if i replace those and it runs fine would i need to replace those cables still?

What problem are you still having? You posted that you fixed the bushings. Are you just concerned about the bust boots on the cables? or do the cable have some sort of damage?
