Yea, why don't you do that. I think the bushings are bad.

Sorry to hear that happened. That's the reason I haven't messed w/ the bushings.

Just gotta follow the DYI section then you shouldn't have any problem.

Try this, take the bushings out of the cable rings, get a coarse grit and a fine grit sand paper and sand the insides of those rings til the bushings fit correctly. Then with the fine grit make sure the insides of the rings are smooth. Use some lithium grease and lube the posts, rings and bushings before reassembling the linkage. If that doesn help I'm going to go ahead and say you need new cables because yours are probably bent.
The reason for the sanding (I used a pneumatic die grinder) is because year rings on the cables only need to have tolerances that will allow those plastic bushings, which have crappy tolerances. They aren't really designed wit modded bushings in mind, so you have to take up the slack for Honda on this one. I hope I this was of some help to you.

well the bushings are brand new and fine.. my problem is now that i cant get into second if im getting on my car... it will just not go in.. everything is fine if im just cruising though... and all of the lower gears seem feel a little weird like i cant tell if its in gear or not... could i have messed up my transmission? i had to drive to honda without 1 set of cable bushings and now my car feels like its not getting up and going like it should???? is it possible to mess up my transmission from just not having my cable bushings in once?

I had the same. I couldnt tell in a gear or not. Its not bushings, its cables. After i replaced cables, everything was fine. There is no DIY, at least i couldnt find any a year ago. If you are pretty good with the tools, just clear the whole day and do it yourself. If not, then i would find a shop around. Its not hard to do...its just takes some time.

You have to actually remove the shifter cable clips that hold the cable to the bracket to install the bushings without breaking the cable guide. You broke the cable guide/boot. Your cable is junk bro. You will not have normal shifter feel/operation until you change the cable. I fix cars for aliving and when I installed my bushings I removed the clips when I couldn't get the bushing on the transmission linkage. For anyone reading this thread and are thinking about installing these on your own, remove the C clip from the cable bracket before trying to install your bushing. You will be happy you did. It's alittle bit of a PITA but you will not break your cable and have to pay big money to have someone replace it. Good luck guys.....

To be honest I haven't had to replace a cable yet so I don't know the exact procedure to change it. But I would guess that it isn't that complicated. Remove the shift boot housing and boot and you should be able to see enough under the shifter to figure it out. The only thing holding the cable on at the linkage is the C clip. Pop the clip off and pop the cable off the actual shifter base. There might be 1 or 2 brackets holding the actual cable in place somewhere between the 2 ends. If there is just unbolt them and install the cable the exact opposite of how you removed it. If I'm doing something that looks very complicated I will take a few pictures of it to compare to. It makes it easier if you get sidetracked or just have bad shrt term memory. hehe.....

The boot is pressure fit, one pulled out it will never go back and stay. I and countless others have broke this same part of the cable doing the same mod. There is a bandaid fix, Slide the boot in as far as it will go then zip tie it. This lasted about 9 month for me. Your cable is BROKE. It WILL get worst. Get a new one before you get stranded.
