Voltage isnt what you have to worry about. Amps is what kills. It takes around 0.5 amps to kill you.

Yes, it's only 12 volts but it's not the voltage that kills you. It's the amperage. Amps can be calculated using E (voltage) / R (Resistance). So if you have 12 Volts and a ring with say 1 Ohm of resistance, 12/1 = 12 Amps. 1/10 of an amp is enough to kill somebody. Don't get me wrong the voltage hurts but it's not what kills you. Luckely the person that I saw with the ring only lost his finger and not his life.

I just wanted to add, though, concerning the battery, from what I've read:

When disconnecting the battery, always disconnect the negative first, then the positive.
When re-connecting, connect the positive first, then the negative.

I don't think it's a good idea to disconnect just the positive.
No magic here. It's just a safety precaution.

If you start by removing the positive terminal with a metal tool, and that tool accidentally hits any metal part of the car (which is ground and still connected to the negative terminal).... fireworks!

But if you start with the negative pole first, even if your tool touches the chassis or engine, it won't cause a short. With the negative terminal removed, you can safely work on the positive terminal without fear of shorting it with the chassis or engine.

Of course, you still need to be mindful as to not short the battery terminals, especially if the tool you're using is long enough to reach both poles.

The car has a negative ground chassis, ie, the whole car becomes the negative battery terminal, so you have to worry about shorting the circuit when touching any positive power and the chassis.

Touching the negative battery terminal isn't very different electrically than touching any metal of the car.

Hey guys sorry if its a repost but is it take off negative terminal, install new intake, then put negative terminal back on and start the car and idle for 10+ minutes?

Ok, here is automotive batteries for dummies.

Remove all jewelry before beginning work. When you need to disconnect the batteries you should first disconnect the negative side(black), then the positive side(red). Chance of shock is greatly reduced in this manner. Any time you work with electricity you should be mindful of metal on metal contact. Your car battery can but probably won't kill you.
