Another Mother thread, ultimate intake discussion
Well, time for another Mother thread, this time regarding intakes for the 8th Gen Si. There is also a sticky about this, but it has not been updated.
list of all intakes available Here is a thread by ErichPryde about how an intake works: http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/bolt-...-pull-air.html Discussion about intake ideas: Custom Intake - Need Feedback Inside! Soxfan143 MAF housing: Mike is the only person I know of who is making modified MAF housings to work with a race header and cat-back. Mike has designed the housing with thinner vanes and a secret angle of attack. His dyno runs show about 10 hp more over stock. I have it on my car and it definitely works. His housing is the key to something like Gruppe M and M&M/T1R Modification made to X intake for more power ![]() From Soxfan143: This is the dyno run. The peak power only went up about 5whp but look at the Vtec crossover. Just before and at the crossover is almost a 10whp gain and a 10wtq gain. That's in 3rd gear don't forget. I probably would have hit 200whp in the proper gear. I need everyone to let me know if I have forgotten any system, so that I can add it to the list. Also, I would like your comments pro and con about each system that has been discussed. For those of you who have one of the above mentioned, could you also tell me what to add under the system, so that others can benefit from this. Hope you enjoy the thread. It was a real "mother" to do.

Thanks for putting this together NitrousG35.
I wonder if you might add this DIY to the cold air section. It's GeezerSi's article talking about cutting out the foglight for additional air. This is a nice option for the FG2's running CAI's. DIY - Fog Light Opening, Vent Conversion |

I have a question about the GruppeM Intake. How would you drive the car in the rain? Wouldn't water get in through the cowl? I also think that if you paired up this intake with: Headers, Bigger Throttle body, CR-V tube, spacer and a Reflash then gains will be 15+. Adding an intake alone to a car will not make mad power, but working with other parts, it can become a nice combo.

i feel so special having my name mentioned in the intake list
I took it off though and went back to a stock air box because i was worried about my AFR's. When I have some money i'll do a before and after AFR dyno sesh just to put the info up on here. |
