Loud Exhaust Ticket......Guilty or Not Guilty?

what would be the best bet....

just admit its loud and pay the fee

or

go possibly waste my time going to court to sit there for 3 hrs, hoppng the cops no shows that day and everything is dropped. If he shows though then im screwed

go buy a quiet axle back muffler really fast, install it and say "now have a listen... is it really that loud?"

they shrug it off, cop goes home looking like an idiot and you drive home to replace the quiet muffler with the loud one

the cop that pulled you over would be the only one that knew you switched it... just tell them youve had it on the whole time and the cop was just looking to pull someone over.

99 percent sure its a non-moving violation meaning no points and no school with it so if you dont want to go thru the hassle of the court system just pay it off

Im with grey2.0si tell them that you exhaust isnt that loud and the cop was out to get you. they will want to go listen to the new exhaust you put on there and the cop will look like an asshole.

hey crack i'm not sure if its just staties but on my side of the river if a cop gives you a ticket he doesn't have to show (at least the staties not sure about normal cops). the judge was making a general announcement that they don't have the man power so they designate one cop for all the tickets that day. if its a non moving violation i would just pay it. i got speeding 45 in a 35 and it woulda be 200 something dollars. when i went to plead with the prosecutor he was gonna knock it down to parking on pavement. with all the court fees it woulda be 310. luckly i got it dismissed. but i'm saying if ya go to court it could be more if your guilty cause of the court fees. if it is a non moving violation and don't give ya points i would just pay it cause i don't think that affects insurance.

good luck man. i'm gonna need it myself cause i might be getting a skunk2 70mm from someone whos silencer flew out lol and he been getting tickets. i got fl plates so i might get away with it.

What exhaust did you have when you got the ticket? Also, did the cop do a proper db reading...."loud" can be a pretty subjective thing.

I'm in the same boat as you...just got a ticket last month cruising around with my S2 70mm. Cops here in Vancouver really don't have anything better to do

Tell the court that a descible reading was never performed ond that the Exhaust is a direct replacment for the stock that had damage over the winter, play dumb yet smart. I also live in NY with a Ti C and get the tickets. So far only one ticket was able to pull my wallet and thats because he gave me an altered exhaust ticket not a loud ticket, and that they can get u 4

Give or take. The officer is going to get paid just to go to court. IDK what you states statue or code defines as a noise violation which I am sure it is just a civil infraction. He is going to have to prove that your car was in violation. I haven't seen any piece of law enforcement equip that measure db levels at least when I went through the academy. I would bring a copy of which exhaust and the specs you have and hope you didn't say anything during your citation that was recorded on his body mic.
