New Tires

Its that time of year.. and if any of you guys seen my rsx rims, u know why i need new tires. ok yeah i know. theres tons of threads about tires! hahaha but i still cant seem to find them here..
but i need ur opinion guys.. i dont know which tires to get.

Kumho Ecsta ASX $89 each Kumho Ecsta ASX

Kumho Ecsta SPT $88 each Kumho Ecsta SPT

Kumho Ecsta AST $71 each Kumho Ecsta AST only problem with this one is that it says its H speed rating, and on tirerack it says not to go with that speed rating for summer tires?

or any other suggestions for tires for a good affordable price? and remember, i dont track or anything im just looking for good reliable tires for summer

and should i get 215/45/17? or 225/45/17 which is i think what i have on my 2005 rsx-s rims right now.

i just picked up some 18" ASX's - will be installing this weekend... i'll let you know how they are
i got them from discount tire direct's ebay store, they were pretty cheap too, $405 CDN shipped to point roberts (tire rack won't ship to non-residential addresses, not even the businesses that aren't PO boxes in point roberts!!!)
i hear they're really good tires, 420 rating should last a while too!!

hmm did u get the free shipping within the US from discount tires? i looked there too, and they added a bunch of tire fees on top (about extra $100). and tirerack wont ship to TSB shipping in point roberts?

yes, you're right with discount tire, they're too expensive, and tirerack won't ship to the letter carrier in point roberts - so i went on ebay, and found discount tire on ebay, they had exactly what i wanted, i think it was $390 US shipped - which came out to $405 CDN from paypal

bluetree0704, i really don't think you can get tires locally for anywhere near the price i'm going to pay. Yes, i will pay maybe $20 in duties, 12% in taxes (taxes i would pay regardless), and then i will go to NTW in tilbury for $15 per wheel install/balancing - i've looked around locally, and to get a similar tire, you're looking at paying A LOT more - if i;m wrong, please let me know where i can get a similar deal, i'd love to see for future reference, and for others on the board

I just put some Ecsta ASX on my rims and am enjoying them so far, they seem really good. I got them at Tire Trendz in Maple Ridge, they are not that expensive. They install too.

I recently got Pirelli P-Zero Nero M+S tires. Haven't really tested them out yet, but if you've got the budget, get these ones.

no difference, same tires from the same warehouse, just another way for discount tire direct to sell their tires (expanding their market)

just do it, it'll be a cheaper deal, if you're too concerned about importing, buy from here...

the AST is an older tire which has been replaced by the ASX.
the SPT is an excellent summer tire and the ASX is an excellent all-season tire. the AST... not so much.

But even the worst summer tire will outperform the best all-season tire on dry and wet pavement. The only advantage of the all-season tire is cold temperature and snow which the summer tire can't handle. So there's no best tire between the ASX and the SPT, it all depends on what you need.

Keep in mind that summer tires should not be used when the temperature is below 7 degrees, the compound will harden and grip will be compromised. Probably be best to stick with the ASX if you plan on driving all year round on the same set of tires.

woahh!! thats like $30 a tire! how?! even im looking online and the lowest i can find is about $50 for the smallest tires.... or is that $118 each tire?!

but yeah. ive decided that ill be going for the ASX tires. now which size is the question...
my rsx-s rims run 215/45/17 stock, but currently i have 225/50/17 on 2 of them. should i get stock of the wider ones?

I went window shopping yesterday and to replace my summer tires is going to cost me ALOT of cash. One tire is like just over 300 bucks EACH. I just found them on a different site for 157 a tire plus 46 bucks to ship them. I am going to go rob a bank

I love these tires though and will fork out the money to replace them.
