watch out 8th gen vancity ppl..

so i got my axleback today so i decided to get it installed at a local muffler shop..
quiet muffler and brakes along kingsway in burnaby (infront of middlegate mall)
thinking the muffler shop would do a better job than me and also i dont have a torque wrench/impact gun to loosen the 2 bolts w/ springs that connects the axleback. paid them $30 for a job so easy... i asked them and insisted that to make sure they tighten the goddamn thing coz i know the 2 springs attached would rattle.. they said fine, walked out and did it, it was done.

so now i went to csxian to purchase his corsport ss and bushings and we were checking it.. i told him to rev it.. and there ya go.. the thing is f****ng rattling like ghetto fab...

i called them and they said "we are closed now sorry, you brought your own muffler, thats how oem specs are, its not our problem.." damn... i know for a fact theres a diy here by dentrecords that its fully compatible all you have to do is tighten it (know the torque specs). they asked me.. if i paid in cash, they wont tax me.. so i did and for that i dont have a reciept to show them. the guy basically told me to go fly a kite.

now i dont know what to do.. i dont have the tools to do this gosh darn thing... just letting you guys know about this. pls dont flame me about saying "you should have done it yourself" man.. if i had the tools i wouldve.

si axle back has a really nice exhaust note on it and i love it.. only if it DIDNT GOSH DARN RATTLED . fudge!

thanks a lot for the help btw csxian!

There has to be a member in your area that would be able to look at it. You could just get some jack stands and get under to take a look.

hi meeks what kind of car did you put the si axel back on, because i know the r18s use a different diameter exhaust and you need to get a different gasket or some sort of modified thing to make them work together. si exhaust is not direct bolt onto an r18.

You went to the wrong shop. I went to Muffler Man, just 6-7 blocks away from Quite Muffler Shop. I had problems with my Tien Spring at the rear and my Magnaflow Muffler kinda hitting rubbing together which causes rattling. I paid around 25 bucks to get them to fix the problem was gone :)

correct me if im wrong but isnt the axleback itself is a direct bolt on? i did a search for this and found a diy by dentrecords, a person there i believe did the same thing using the lx gasket w/o any exhaust leaks. i also checked earlier and nope, no exhaust leaks, just the damn spring rattle.

i'm sorry for your problems, it'll be an ok fix (just go to another shop)

but, i will say this - it's karma, you paid in cash for a 'non tax' deal - i.e. you benefited from not paying tax, defrauding the government (who admittedly already taxes too much and wastes too much) but more important defrauding the rest of us who pay all of their taxes

next time, don't go to shady places that offer 'tax free' deals, there's no such thing as tax free, it's illegal, although not significant, things like this are more likely to happen => shady business will often mean shady work...

Tax free deals FTW....

Don't mind Ian, I am unsure if he has ever had anything positive to say to us. I am told he is a nice guy in person but he has never come out to meet us.

lol ok dude im so sorry i defrauded all of y'all for not paying tax on paying for this.

also you posted on another thread here on 8th gen where you said ss from corsport will not fit a 5speed manual.

1.) its for all models.
(si, ex, lx, dx, 2 door, 4 door, etc) pls check corsport.com

2.) i have it installed right now and a very happy owner :)

i appreciate your .02cents dude and i will pay tax all the time next time LOL. its just that my policy is: if i can save a buck or two and put it towards gas or my next mod, why not hey? but since you said i'm being a criminal for defrauding everybody for that LOL then sir, i will pay tax all the time now

ok, so now its all gone childish and internet argue time... fantastic!!!
- i've never said the short shifter didn't fit the non Si, infact I am selling mine and had ppl ask the same question, I merely asked them to search it - i hoped it did fit them, as it'd mean my market would be increased..
PLEASE show me where i said it didn't fit... it'd make sense that it would fit, its an add on (remember i own one, have driven with it for a number of months)
for reference, here's where i clearly state that i don't know whether it fits an LX, someone else comes in telling me factually that it doesn't - i still don't know:
http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/canad...hift-knob.html

and my comment about the taxes... well, you'll understand when you're in a career and your paycheck is about cut in half by taxes... its just a piss off when ppl go around thinking its ok to not pay tax - i'd love to not pay taxes, but its morally wrong and i'd lose my designation if i were ever caught
also, you really are defrauding the rest of us, not in an individually significant way, but, if everyone paid their taxes in full, tax rates would decrease, or gov. spending would increase (hopefully meaning more benefit to us, the taxpayer) - but because a large base of scumbags don't pay tax (some ppl A LOT), we all pay a little bit more to cover them. basically, the goverment will get the amount they want, however all it means is that the taxpaying pool is now smaller (due to those not wanting to pay taxes) - so those in the pool pay more - i don't want to pay taxes on anyone else's behalf - i know, one can argue for $5 - $10 what's the big deal, its not, but extrapolated over the population of scumbags in canada, it ends up being a big deal - give me a 2% income tax decrease, and that would mean a whole lot of gas and mods, but the main point is coming...
My comment was MUCH more about doing business with 'shady' businesses - if they're offering 'no tax' deals, they're not reputable PLUS you lose any warranty - and that warranty AND LIABILITY especially when it comes to someone working on your car is worth a hell of a lot more than 12% of your bill.

so, to reflect, 1) what are you talking about the SS not fitting on an LX, go see my for sale thread, please, it's black and white!!!! 2) i'm not looking to flame you, just maybe advise you that really, it's partly your own fault, but a fault that can be easily fixed at another REPUTABLE shop and avoided next time by avoiding 'no tax' deals.

And, sleepy, i'm not grumpy, i just dislike the idiocracy (not a real word i know) i see on a day to day basis - case in point (tax free dodgy deals turning bad = complaints - makes no sense to me) - hell, looks at the lovely warning i gave about meeks installing the base bushings:
http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/canad...e-bushing.html
i'm a frickin' nice guy!

oh, and just to comment on the meeting ppl thing... i'm usually predisposed when meets are held... its not that i don't want to come out, i'd love to - but i've done the whole car meets/illegal racing meets (in a controlled enviro - not right, but still... i was 18 at the time) - again, i'd still like to, but the desire just isn't there to rearrange my other plans at the times of meets - i may come one time this summer... but we shall see!!

Hey to you Mr. Wells

So would you be up for coffee one day to prove you are a nice guy? I know you don't have to prove anything to anyone but for being 25 you come off like you are 60 and have done and seen it all. You are still young, come to a meet and enjoy yourself...we will behave I promise.

Sorry to threadjack Meeks
