Are they actually out yet? If so I wanna pick up them and put them on my desk at work. I wonder if HBC in Richmond has them

Whats with the hatred? What do you have againist the mascots?

The Olympic mascot is supposed to be something unique that you won't see anywhere, but at the 2010 Olympics.

Here are 3 mascots, that are completely unique because they are mythical yet have some connection to BC. Olympic mascots are meant to look cute for merchandise purposes. If they are too bland (like Utah's) no one will buy or remember them. Also, if they are weird and not cute (like Athens & Torino) people will not understand them.

I personally think they are really good for what can be expected from an Olympic mascot. They are also aimed at children, not adults.

Do the children buy them...nope the adults do. I just think they are plain old stupid to be honest. They look like a bunch of animated japanese cartoons, last time I check this was Canada and not Japan. (I have no issues with Japan) It should be more focused to the people that will actually buy them like adults.

However the Olympics are supposed to be for everyone, not just adults. Also, a lot of those adults will be buying them for theirs kids.

Now don't get me wrong, I feel they could have done a few things different (using an actual killer whale not some multiple creature cross-breed and a non-debeaked thunderbird). But not everyone is going to like them no matter what they are. I am just thankful they aren't worse like...

Izzy (1996) <-- Its official description is "an abstract figure." Ya, that represents Atlanta...

Sukki, Nokki, Lekki, and Tsukki (1998) <-- Those are owls?

Athena and Phevos (2004) <-- WTF!?!?

Neve and Gliz (2006) <-- They are a frickn' snowball and ice cube... how original

I am sorry, but at least ours are better than those.

ok I won't argue that ours look sorta better then the past ones but I still don't like them.

Maybe they should have come up with

Pookey the junkie
Grow house Joe
Some sort of Taser mascot
Mary the hastings street hooker.

The list could go one....sorry I am just being a dink with my thoughts about what they should be....lol.

I think they're not bad (relatively speaking :-) and if they had a smaller sized Quatchie I'd buy one for my desk at work, but the current ones are all too big. If you're an Olympic hater then you won't like them, if you like the Olympics then you'll be more inclined to give them a chance.

I just called the Richmond Bay and they don't have them yet either. I am guessing tomorrow or something.

I also called the Zellers:

Apparently the stuff is being special couriered to each store and once they arrive they go straight to the shelves for sale. They said they are almost positive that at some point today before they close, the stuff we be on sale.

I gotta side with Sleepy on this one.

However... the mascots are pretty good compared to the crap they've come up with before. Those Athens ones are the biggest pieces of crap ever.

Then again, I'm not an olympics lover. The way I see it... if you want to prove you're good at something, bring back gladiator sports. I'm talking about the real thing. Men w/ spears versus starved lions.

I apologize for my abrupt comments, I just laughed so hard when I saw those things yesterday. When I see them, they don't IMO represent Canada, first thing I think is Japan.

I am not an olympic hater, I will watch them and cheer on Canada. I don't want to be in the city because it will be way to chaotic to drive around in.
