Raced another G35

We were at a stop light in a somewhat curvy road (empty most of the time). He took me off the line but there was a little curve so I caught up to him since he couldnt pull through the curve as fast as the Si, after we exited the curve I was in vtec in 2nd and he was still walking me ever so slowly, but when I hit third he was not pulling anymore and I eventually started to gain on him a little. He ended beating me by about 1 car length. He said he had an exhaust, intake and was dropped, but man the G35 sounds so beautiful with an exhaust and intake and HE WAS DRIVING A STICK. If it were a quater mile he would have beat me to the end but i think if we raced to at least 120 mph I would have caught him. I have raced a stock G35 before and I pulled him slowly but surely but this G35 did pull on me a little. I thought he was going to walk me bad but I guess not.

Sounds like the guy in the G35 can't drive...assuming your Si is stock.

I was listening to his shifting and he was shifting as fast as I was or faster, unless he wasnt flooring it, but like I said, I have raced G35's before and he was definitely flooring it. I have been burned bad by a g35 sedan with the circle tailights, those are fast, the coupes dont seem to be as fast. I had my camera with me but my girlfriend and I forgot to record it. I was to caught up in the moment.

I haven't had the chance to really race one yet but would think they would smoke an Si...I toyed with a G35x a little on some curvy roads and I guess he wasn't walking away from me but there is no doubt he was faster.

Yah i still believe that no matter what model of G35 from sedan to coupe, from 03 to 06, the G35 would beat an si in a straight line for sure. For some reason, ,most of the si owners don't think so. I've raced 3or 4 si now in a G35sedan and beat them. Just go no the net and look up the stats, all G35 beat si's. I don't know about you guys, but i'm not stupid enough to race till 120mph on the roads. Ne thing past the 1/4 mile is just plain stupid on the roads.

I have never raced to 100mph, im not that stupid. I was just making an assumption. You may be right, I guess the 2 G35 Coupe drivers that I raced sucked. The guy in the sedan killed me though. Did you race the 3 or 4 Si's past their third gear? Were you still pulling on them after they hit third?

Yah the sedans are a bit slower than the coupes. The sedans only seem slow because most people that drive them don't know how. I'll admit, i only pulled in first and second but then the races seemed more even after i hit around ~65mph. I stoped pulling but it seems really even, maybe the si will catch up but nobody around here races to 120mph, well not me ne ways.(I need my licence too much). But nice kill none the less, rep the hondas.

Nice Run!

Si will not catch up to a G35 in a straight line given equal drivers...they got almost 100 hp on us!

As an interesting aside, my fellow Auto-X friend with the '02 RSX purchased a G35 coupe 6MT about two weeks back. We ran it up to the auto-X track this last weekend and he had a problem: At 6'1" he could not put his helmet on and sit in a good driving position. The roof on this car is LOW.

I was able to get inside with my helmet without a problem (@ 5'9") and was able to take a few spins around both the Auto-X and GP courses. Very fun, particularly with the VDC turned off. Running on stock Protenzas so the rubber was sub-par to what I have been running in the Si. This car is heavy. It certainly has power to spare, and grunts out of corners very well (and let me say the "Rear Active Steering Package" is kind of neat as well), however, the weight is an issue, particularly coming off a run in my Si. My auto-X times were pretty abysmal (as I expected given first time in the car, different handling, etc.), but my GP course times were okay. The extra power in car shines on the straights on the GP track.

We need to figure out what he is going to do with the helmet issue as he goes out to the track every other weekend (and is the person who took me out to my first auto-x back in the past). I am sure he will figure something out as I know he is not giving up the track.

Wow! That is one sick G35. I was gonna say, it should be almost a driver's race with the 350zs until i saw your mods. I think you meant G35 coupe. Because the G5 is a pontiac pursuit and i don't think there are coupes. What are you running in the 1/4. Probably high 12???

Actually, we have I-VTEC It's kinda like an intelligent WARP Drive.
Once it engages None of the G35's, Z06's, Testorosas, or F-360's have prayer.

I have the same car, 2006 G35 sedan 5spd auto, and it's pretty quick. This is the car I'm giving to the wifey...I'm gettin' the SI. I don't have any idea how fast the SI is, but I can tell you that it WILL eventually smoke my G35 when I'm done with it.

I'll post up pics when I get the SI..hurricane coming so I'm not picking the car up 'till Thursday.
